Could always do with a few more fps. I think it definately helps having an understanding of how graphics and AI works in the sim and not settng expectation too far beyond your own system capabilities. Hopefully though those a little less forgiving or who simply don't have the time to tinker will benefit from the 27th performance update a little more. 😉
July 18, 20214 yr The more scenery you have active the slower the loading. Even wheh its not in the area you are in. But wheh they are in your area the loading will even be longer. Eg : the second Maasvlakte near Rotterdam existed also at Flightsim.to. That took up to 15 min to load. Cause : all texture files where 86kb and there were just over 23.000 of them…. Like P3D and PR scenery that loads all the are active, even if they are at the other side of the world. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
July 18, 20214 yr I've had scenery files from over 1000 NM from where I was flying cause a CTD. Eventually I tracked the problem addon down through a process of elimination. I was also surprised when using process monitor to see files being accessed from scenery far beyond the area I am flying. July 18, 20214 yr The thing is, Asobo add more and more scenery and airports all of the time at world updates. If this was the case, we would all be running at a crawl by now, and this hasn't been a widely reported issue. As dtrjones has said. If there are specific cases, they should be reported through zendesk to Asobo, as this shouldn't happen. My community folder, and OrbxCentral folder, are jam packed and I don't see any loss in fps, so something is wrong. Edited July 18, 20214 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I do not keep any of them installed 24/7 except the USA World Update. The others I install and remove when I prefer, based on whether I will be flying that region over a span of relatively immediate dates, Edited July 18, 20214 yr by fppilot Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. July 19, 20214 yr Definitely seen stutters with some scenery even flying the other side of the world. Never really tested FPS though, it is possible. With addon linker it would be relatively simple for a few regulars to test with everything loaded, and then without, and see if they get a difference. Edited July 19, 20214 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

When I fly MSFS I am using GA aircraft (Baron, 172, DA62, Carenado Mooney) and I seldom fly into higher density metro areas. Mostly fringe-metro regional airports. However I have experienced a number of mid-route freeze ups (not CTD's) either of MSFS itself or freezes of the G1000 (even with the progression of WT G1000 release versions). These are sim or in-sim lockups, not system lockups. I seem to be having more success the less I have loaded. About 10 days ago I had an issue with Gaming Services and as a result I reset my MSFS. I have not had much occasion to fly MSFS since then due to other demands on my time. Will see soon if the reset has any influence. On a group flight in southern Russia and Georgia we ran into an area where several of us had sim stall/lock that exceeded 1 minute. Flying along just fine one minute, then a complete freeze (that lasted so long I figure MSFS had crashed and I was about to force quite using task manager) that eventually resolved allowing me to continue flying. Worst case of this I've ever had, and a couple of the other guys experience the same thing. I suspect it was related to a freeware airport attempting to load in. Some of the guys limped into the airport with low single-digit fps and then killed MSFS and restarted, and then it was back to normal. July 19, 20214 yr Author Hi, I'm going to repeat the test this afternoon (I have all morning occupied). I'll tell you the results. Cheers.

My community folder, and OrbxCentral folder, are jam packed and I don't see any loss in fps, so something is wrong. It’s just the amount of Texture files. Nothing more, nothing less. So if you have well made Addons with larger Texture files like 635 kb instead of 86 kb (or even 43 kb ) than that is a world of difference. Luckily more freeware designers at Flightsim.to are now also creating larger Textures…. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
July 19, 20214 yr Let's say you have DEM meshes installed for Alaska, New Zealand and Austria and you start a flight in Alaska. How would the sim find out which files to load? It surley has to read all of them. Karl i9-9900K@5,0 | 32GB 3200 | 2080TI | 4K 55" | MSFS | P3D V5

July 19, 20214 yr Author Hi, everyone, I was wrong! Bobcat999 and turnandbank are right! The test I've done revealed that the number of addons (scenery and airports) doesn't matter if they are not in areas near the area of flight. I've activated 745 addons in France, Germany, Italy and North America. 15 minutes of loading, by the way! Then I selected LEVC, Manises, Valencia (Spain) and the rate of frames were more o less the same that without the addons (with addons: 30-37; without: 28-37)). So... What happened yesterday? Perhaps one airport or area in particular made the fps drop (I can't remember every addon I had in the Community folder yesterday) Anyway, I think is a good thing to use Addon Linker and to select just the areas and airports for the flight you have to do, because the possiblilty of CTD (for collision with other scenarios or airports) or influence in fps (a lot of textures?). And, of course, the loading time of Flight Simulator is shorter with less addons! Thank you all for your attention, tips and advise! Edited July 19, 20214 yr by John Fields
July 19, 20214 yr It is just down to the usual day-to-day random quirkyness of MSFS John - not your fault at all. Recently I had blurred textures. Without changing anything, now they are completely gone and they are back sharp again (Server issues maybe?) As I think Forrest Gump would say,' MFSF is like a box of chocolates - you never know what your gonna get!' 😀 Hopefully the performance increase and lowered RAM usage due in the update on the 27th will help things be more consistent from session to session. I must admit, I am looking to use addon linker more to prune various addons from certain sessions and reduce loading time. I am loading off a fast M.2 NVMe drive, and I click on the Icon to start it then I go and do something else for ten minutes. (My wife wonders why I do the washing up so much these days!) At least one advantage was having the dreaded 'press any key' screen removed by Asobo, as it would come up and pause half way through loading. PS thanks for testing and reporting back. It must have taken the patience of a saint! Edited July 19, 20214 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
