MSFS running on XBOX Series S and X - Smooth!

Featured Replies

Microsoft owns Windows, I do not think they will drop pcs anytime soon.

In regards to XBox users. yes many will try, most then leave. Some come back once Top Gun is being released. It is up to MS to always come up with fresh content and good marketing to keep them interested. And few will find their way into this as a hobby pushing simulation to a new level.

Nethertheless, this is better than the previous situation being a niche in a market niche where everybody just struggled to survive and no new inspiration ever appeared.

"More scalability / peripherals / addons / freeware."

you forgot VR. since MSFS I fly only in VR mode, something not supported on the xbox.

This is one that they have already said they won't implement because they believe their existing TSAA scaling is really good.

They said (in June 30 Q&A) they didn't think the benefits were worth the effort compared to their existing solution but that they would revisit it in a few months when they have some more bandwidth.

Well at least everyone has a mind of their own and can choose which platform, or even use both. It's up to the customer no matter the age to decide what they want, how they are going to enjoy it, and whether they will stick with it. No different then any other sim, game, software out there.

I do know that I have been looking into Xbox specific area's, and a lot of people are really excited about MSFS on Xbox. Will they stick with it, who knows, not my call. Not everyone stuck with FSX, FSX-SE, XP, you name it. I don't worry about what might happen tomorrow as long as I am enjoying my hobby(s) today. People were freaked when it was announced at the Xbox event in 2019, and look a lot of use have been using it since August 2020, some enjoying it, some not. But who cares. MS this time is in it to make lots, and lots of money. Otherwise we wouldn't even be here, or have a Market Place, or have it releasing on Xbox. BTW, and I have no knowledge of this, I don't think if it wasn't on Xbox, we wouldn't have it on the PC? I am just guessing. But when pitching it to the big ones, they had to show the money this go round. Or that it could make money, in the long run. We have Market Place, they will make some addon's themselves, and I think price them low to mid range. They will make money off Game Pass, or they sure hope so.

It's also different, and some people won't like the direction they take. Doesn't bother me at all. I have more than one hobby. And there are other sim(s) for people, for now at least!

Money, money, money! Make a profit stick around. The days of just the 3rd party making money on MSFS are gone, for the most part. But PMDG, Aerosoft, Orbx, ( I am forgetting some ) being on board is good. You tell me why there is not a default 737, coincidence, I don't think so Tim . Of course I could never ever prove it 🙂 And don't care!

If it was from the marketplace, I think its ok.

Anyone who flies in third person view is not a "serious simmer" as someone suggested earlier. That goes for MSFS or any racing sim for that matter.

I think it's great that MSFS will be available to more people, and the optimizations seem impressive.

However, I fear that the focus going forward is going to be the "arcade" way of things. At least that's what we've seen so far since launch. It depends on the reach, where the customer base is going to be. Will it end up being majority Xbox?

No it's not. It's going in the exact opposite direction.

If they wanted to make it arcadey they’d probably have hired Sega rather than WT.

I do both.

If I'm flying the A320, I'll be in the cockpit most of the time, except to take screenshots.

If I'm going on a sight seeing flight in a smaller plane, I'll fly mostly in third person, except for landing and take off.

If that was true, they wouldn't have contracted Working Title to help improve the flight systems.

I wonder if free addons can be used?

Only free ones from the marketplace.

Interesting, how would you say MSFS has become less "arcade" like since launch?

Many people already answered you already,  They hired Working Title.

Working Title literally posted a new video here in this forum about the upcoming G1000 NXi. That video is way beyond the needs of a typical casual flight simmer and is intended for “hardcore” flight simmers.

Yes. And I started a reply, but figured it would take this thread off topic.

Working Title are the freeware guys right?
