I'm not sure if I'm ready to uninstall my FSX with all of my GB's of payware and freeware taking up space on my game drive. I haven't fired up FSX since the beginning of the pandemic but I do find myself flying my TBM 930 nearly every day in MSFS 2020. Even with that in mind I just can't seem to part with FSX yet. It almost feels like parting ways with a old friend. I'd like everyone's opinions on this topic - Has FSX seen it's days? Is MSFS 2020 the NOW and FUTURE of flight simming for the next couple of decades? Is it time to part company with a old friend? I uninstalled P3D the moment I saw the trailer for FS2020 Lukas Dalton

Yesterday I had a CTD enroute from Milwaukee to Flying Cloud, MN (DA62 with mods and WT1000). MSFS just closed without warning. That after about 90 minutes of flying. 90 minutes of mostly wasted time. Most of my flights are flown with purpose. I later flew the flight in FSX SE without issue. 90 minutes of mostly wasted time. Today, just an hour ago, I had MSFS freeze up an hour into a flight from Troutdale, OR to Newport, OR (default 172 Classic w/pms530 mod). It was not a CTD (MSFS did not close), it just froze. I waited it out 30 minutes but no joy. I performed a complete reset of MSFS 10 days ago. If I cannot complete a simple MSFS flight then FSX SE and all my addons stay installed as due to the MSFS issues I am still flying over 70% of my hours there. Then stop modding instead of blaming MSFS. I have yet to experience a Single ctd since my initial installation Lukas Dalton

That is my local airport KESN and please provide a screen shot from your installation if that is not how it looks for you. Understand? Also take a look at KCTJ Carrollton, GA. There are quite a number that suffer the same. My home airport was a huge disappointment! Weather as well, avionics as well, ATC as well, AWOS/ATIS? Totally embarrassing. Nav data was sorely lacking. Depth of systems and modeling in aircraft... So why did I reinstall FSX SE (FSX would not activate any longer)? I am flying MSFS and spending time building a library for the promise of the future, so not trolling here. But suggestions that FSX or P3D should be uninstalled or not freshly installed is not a fit for all of us, at this time. Everyone who flies into generic default airports lost control of his life Lukas Dalton

This has gotten really overblown. Some responding did not read my posts clearly. Just reacted that I disagree about removing everything else. Let me see if I have this right. You have FSX-SE...never went to P3D (64-bitties)?!?!, and are having issues with new sim. OK...2 separate issues. First off. I'm certain you can fix the issues with the sim freezing. Probably a mod conflict or a add-on scenery that required a update (ala FT sceneries). That should be easy enough. Secondly. Most of your add-ons with the exception of aircraft are most likely already available or there's decent freeware for them. There's actually probably more freeware now for the new sim just one year in then still exist for FSX/P3D and/or XP. Look, to each his own, but ******* h, from FSX to not going to MSFS???? How does that even 'not' happen...rofl! If your PC can run FSX or P3D, you can run the new sim. Reading these posts is just outright nutty. We're form the government and we're here to help...I promise. 🙂 Sorry just have to have a bit of fun. Jeff D. Stop attacking me and look at that airport on your own system! And scroll back in this topic for a confirmation by another member! Also take a look at KCTJ Carrollton, Georgia. My airport is by no means the only one. And it is not my system. Here is a capture of I69 - Claremont County airport in Ohio, home of Sporty's Pilot Shop. It is an addon, but shows my system more than capable. KESN is not due to my system. July 26, 20214 yr I’m glad there are several different well-running sims...I have them all, even AFS2. Today I loved flying my DC-6 around my home state of Wisconsin and also have enjoyed numerous enjoyable (and very crisp and colorful and smooth) XP11 flights today using my TrueEarth and FlyJSim and Carenado XP11 investments. And I’m looking forward to what Tuesday brings for MSFS 2020 and whether it will take away my “Seattle Stutters”. I started with FS98 which I first saw advertised as pre-order boxes on our honeymoon (I couldn’t think of much else once I saw it!) and have enjoyed this hobby immensely since. My latest kick is to see if I can NOT buy more add ons for any of my sims for awhile and just savour and enjoy my (many!) existing investments for my various sims and freeware whilst we greatly accelerate our home mortgage payoff.

Constantly hoping to resolve the issues I am experiencing. I totally enjoyed my flight in Oregon today until it froze. Hoping updates will remedy those. July 26, 20214 yr I still have P3D 4.5 because I have copious storage space. I did try to use it a few weeks after a 3 or month hiatus ago but got an error message relating to PMDB NGUx and 777 activation, and I am awaiting a reply on a ticket at PMDG so for now was not able to run it. What I did enjoy and will again is flying dusk to dawn flights only in the PMDG birds once this is sorted out. Flying in low light helps mask the very fake looking world outside that Orbx regionals couldn't overcome. The other massive benefit is you can also then dial back settings nearly to sparse and you're no worse for it because of dim lighting. This means you can fly into the most complex airports in the NGXu or 777 w/o a hiccough. At some point (that would be around when the two PMDG tubes come out for MSFS & when FSDT releases GSX for MSFS) I will delete 3D and the hundreds to thousands of $$ worth of content support for it. That too has been disabled, mainly NCA/SCA because at night those no longer matter and they really tax performance. Good riddance to all of the installation and setup time required let alone the cost for P3D. It might be heavy workload and painful. Start the simple way and empty your community folder first and deinstall all addons, or make a fresh installation from MSFS. Check your PC - RAM test / GPU test / OC?/ Windows updates and drivers eg. and do not forget your devices (yoke, quadrant ....). In 1 year MSFS I've had 2 CTD's so far. One caused by an addon, the other by a broken cable from my yoystick. The last one tooks a while to find out ! Good luck and best regards
