Bring back volumetric lighting!

Featured Replies

But why are Asobo doing this in the first place? Why dumb down volumetric lighting?

Is is because they think we wont notice? Is it because it was yet another backdoor experiment to produce more FPS? Or are they simply such bad coders that that they truly dont know what they are doing and this is all just ‘accidental’?

Surely someone within must have made a decision to flick switches in the code. If they cant explain it then it is either because they genuinely have no clue or simply don’t care to, in which case we can suspect ineptitude is strongly in play.

I sure hope they didn't think we wouldn't notice. Another simmer on another thread brought up a good point that we will probably see some of these features return as things even out with the Xbox. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case here. I would be curious going forward though why it wasn't included in the release notes if that's the case. My fingers are crossed though that this is just a simple bug.

I did notice that, on a night flight, but was not sure if my memory was correct. Plus I wanted to reinstall Uwa's lighting mods to see if it had something to do with my possibly faulty memory.

I just tried UWAs lighting mods for the 208 and didn't see it working. Unfortunately the mod didn't help either, but his pictures do this lighting effect great justice to show that it existed.

Can you show some screenshots of it working? Everything on ultra for me and it's not visible.

In the sim now with high settings. No volumetric lights. I can verify this by looking at the strobes with no reflection. Do you have any screenshots or a video showing this working?

no volumteric lights, no ai traffic, no defined clouds = more performance for FPS Thirsty people

They actually temporarily removed entire channels that they could not make compatible with SU5 in time.   Maybe this is related.

I’m ok with that. A simple explanation from the devs this week would satisfy me. Atleast I hope it’s that easy.
