Meanwhile, with EA=on and VolC=off I'm getting a very good representation of weather. I have to agree with this. It's been 7 months (!) since my last flight so for the longest time I mostly just saw people comment on how they like or dislike this and that in P3D5.2HF1, and now finally last Sunday I got a look at it myself. I gotta say, I found the clouds and haze to be very disappointing. My feeling is that this used to look much better in previous versions. That said, it's a very stable and smooth sim for me so far. Did NZAA-YSSY with the PMDG 77W. That is, during my one 4-hour flight... So really, can't say very much about it at this point other than this one experience. But, that one flight did make me feel like LM has a massive amount of work still to do on EA. August 2, 20214 yr Don’t understand the point of introducing EA and vol clouds. When it’s going to take 10 to 20years to have it looking right lol. Mike
August 2, 20214 yr I fly both. But I really DO love P3dv5.2. I'm having great performance on my system, and EA seems so much better for some (unknown) reason. I'm not seeing the monotony of clouds as I did before. I love the huge variety of GA, airliners, Regional and Business jets and helicopters. I have fun every day flying IFR with P3d. I feel that I'll never leave it for another sim, unless there's a revolutionary sim that gives me the flexibility that LM has built into this program. I fly MSFS ONLY when I want to take a low and slow flight over a region in order to see it in quite realistic visuals. Both live in harmony. Stan
August 3, 20214 yr At this moment I am mainly flying with MSFS and occasionally with P3Dv5. MSFS does not have all features (SDK) that P3D has that supports my home cockpit. The cloud structures of MSFS look better, but the cloud textures of P3D are looking more real. In P3D the default EA haze is way too much but the atmosphere “feels” very good. P3D is more stable than MSFS and that is a very good thing. LM need to adress 3 things : - Improve EA cloud structures - Improve the overdone haze - Overhaul the AG How MSFS will continue to develop will have influence on how many new Addons there will be released for P3D. If little to no Addons will be released for P3D in the future more people will switch to other flightsims, therefore what LM does with the 3 points above will be crucial for their succes in the hobby environment…. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
August 3, 20214 yr Well I gave up on MSFS and will stick with P3Dv5 give MSFS a couple of years (if it is still around) then I might have another look at it if I am still around 🥴

Interested in your Lighting Bright/Bloom/Saturation settings, & if you run with HDR ticked? Also, do you use any other programs to enhance P3D visual appearance, such as Shaders?? August 3, 20214 yr I installed V5.2 a couple days ago, having decided not to put my copy of 4.5 on my new machine. Last night, I flew out of KJAC headed for KMRY at dusk in a rainstorm. When I picked my jaw up off the floor, I just kept repeating "oh wow"... I've never seen a flightsim look so good, and without the slightest stutter or hesitation - all sliders maxed. I've been around since the old FS9 days (if you discount all the Commodore 64 sims) and never, have I had an experience like that. Thanks Lockheed! Yes, MSFS will come to my machine once some more bugs are squashed, but for now, me and my thousands of dollars of addons are quite happy indeed with P3D. Mark

No need to mess with any earlier versions, even if you could get them. LM makes the earlier client modules available for those needing to backtrack...but it's *only* the client module, which wouldn't do you any good in any case. I agree P3D5.2 along with ORBX is very smooth and looks amazing. August 5, 20214 yr The other thing people have not mentioned is the huge load EA puts on you GPU. When enabled my 3090 goes into overdrive pulling nearly 400WATTS. So a reduction in power would also be nice. Given v3 could I see no problems with versions 4 and 5. I asked Andrew Wilson of FSL which version was recommended and he said the PBR effects would look best with v5. Have no fear about the accuracy of the flight model. The same programmer wrote the software for the Concorde simulator at Brooklands Museum near Heathrow. You don’t get more accurate than that. The frustrating bit is they don’t provide any news on development so we have no idea how close to release it is. You'll need to wipe all Boeing and Airbus navigation knowledge from your brain. Concorde is like no other. You’ll need arithmetical skills too so you can work out when to slow down and go down. 😁 Ray (Cheshire, England).
