There is a large market for a quality 737 or 777 at $75. That market becomes a whole lot smaller at $140. It could be 10 to 20 times smaller at that price.

Sorry, in the big picture, that's just not a good argument and a very short sighted statement.  I think we're all aware of what we can buy and what we cannot or should not buy.

These forums are where we can advocate for ourselves and others.  There has to be some sort of market driving power available here, even if it does not change things.

The argument for $75 pricing is that more casual gamers / simmers will be likely to check it out at that price, and many of those people will fly it a few times and then fly something easier when they realize the commitment and studying/reading involved. So those customers don’t really add to customer support demands in the long run. PMDG just sells more copies. Makes more money. And…the serious simmers who are going to learn to fly this thing are going to be happy customers that they got a great deal on a detailed add-on.

Everyone wins at $75.

Completely agree, it's the only thing that makes sense if you look at anything longer than short term. But I'd imagine it will take PMDG a bit to fully realize this, giving completely new products to customers for free will surely feel strange for them 😄 

Even if they give people a $25 coupon, they will get those back plus $50 more when they release their next plane.

It'll probably be a little over 100$ so they still make a bit of additional money while not being over the top expensive for new customers.

I tend to agree.  Most releases by other addon devs have been slightly-much cheaper for MSFS than they were in P3D.  I doubt I'll buy it anyway as I just don't have the time to fly anymore.  If I did have the time I'd consider it but not at 140 USD.  I like how they initially priced their DC6... it was a lot less than I (and others) thought.  I would expect the NG to cost a little more though.

There are a lot of users who fall in between PMDG study level and Carenado level.

That would be the likes of Aerosoft and their airliners are in the 50-65$ range.

If some folks are expecting to get a PMDG 737 for under 100$ than they are in for a major letdown. That's just my opinion

they could price it at 150 $ minus your 99$ credit, and for new customers offer an introductory time-limited special rebate "because-we-are-such-a-nice-company" promo code so that everybody ends up paying no more than 50 $ or whatever. but only while supplies last. 😊 marketing is flexible.

I can sort of see how some people would think that. I purchased the NGXu in the first week and only bought it because of the credit deal. The credit was stated to be only for the NG3, if the NG3 didn't cover all the credit then it is what it is, I still have used a fully upgraded NGX for more than 24 months so I don't see any loss in value there AND I would be getting the NG3 for free.

Again, I could kind of see how someone would be upset, but if you actually used the NGXu instead of using it as a strange kind of pre-order for the NG3 then you couldn't possibly be bothered.

That's how I conclude my prayers every night since I first flew the CJ4 😛
