How does the 'compatible' one affect you Dave? It seems difficult to find a decent 4k, 27-28 inch G-sync monitor anyway at the moment, so I might have to postpone my search for a bit. Its simple, A true "real" G-Sync screen has built in hardwear and they cost more. They can G-sync down to around 20 FPS. Ian has a real one Mine is a "Compatible" and when i looked closely at the spec on my G7, G-Sync does not work untill am above 68 FPS. Yer thats right...a waste of time. I know this before I bough it, so I dont care. But just becasue it has a big green sticker in the corner say its "G-sync monitor" means nothing. Edited August 19, 20214 yr by Nyxx David Murden. August 19, 20214 yr @bobcat999 "Gsync compatible" means the monitor has VRR/Freesync and Nvidia enables usage of the VRR/Freesync via the Control Panel Gsync checkbox. A monitor that has VRR/Freesync, but is not Nvidia certified, will not offer the checkbox to enable Gsync in the Nvidia Control Panel. A "real" Gsync monitor (not "Gsync compatible") has extra hardware which the other two don't. My 4k 27" monitor has amd freesync and is gsync compatible, but I don't use the feature because the Nvidia implementation is not good. Its flickery in some games etc. - when I use it with an AMD card, it has zero issues when using VRR/Freesync. Issue is only there when using it with a Nvidia card. If you use GSync at higher refresh rates, brightness will flicker when you have microstuttering. Do not limit fps from nVidia control panel or external tools, just set VSync on and 60 fps limit in MSFS settings. Also make sure that GSync is enabled in nVidia CP. It seems that a 'compatible' one would be no use for me then. I can easily do 30 fps, but not quite 60, so my plan was to limit at around 45 through something like RTSS and match it to a G-Sync monitor, as obviously I only have the 30 or 60 option at the moment. If these 'compatible' ones don't kick-in until about 68 fps, it would be no use to me. Looks like you saved me some more money! I have a gsync monitor and If I don't lock my frames in the sim, I will still get high fps but every once in a while or if I go to dense areas the fps counter will turn red which causes stutters. With it locked, no matter how much the fps goes down the bar will still be green and it will still be smooth
