If you want to try vsync with Gsync then turn on vsync in NVIDIA CP so you can stay with your 40 - 45 fps lock in NVCP. Thats not how gsync works. If you notice, when he locked his fps to 30 in the sim he was getting a steady 60 fps. Unlike locking in NVIDIA which is capping at 45. Edited August 19, 20214 yr by devgrp

With mine locked at 30 my gsync always works Locked at 30 you are guaranteed that Gsync will kick in as the minimum native frame rate of most 165 HZ monitors is down around 48 FPS the same sort of minimum you get with 144hz monitors. The figure of 30 is the "magic number" for 60 hz old school monitors with a native minimum of 30 hz and no gsync/freesync. On a 165hz GSync monitor 30 FPS is fine of course - but so is 25 FPS or 50 FPS or anything else you think is optimal for your own use use case. TLDR - do not get too fixated on 30 FPS, on your monitor 28 FPS or 36 FPS or any other number that your game is capable of sustaining will work. Edited August 19, 20214 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

You could enable and check if g-sync is working ( monitor fps will be synchronized with msfs fps). At least on my Asus G-Sync PG27Q ( 165ghz) G-sync is only working when Msfs v-sync is at 60 or off. What's really heavy on the CPU is terrain LOD. After many tests I think I found the sweet spot for my system: terrain LOD 3 and objects LOD 9. This limits the pop-in and morphing a lot, while keeping good framerates and preventing stuttering when I pan the view. I play with VSync and GSync on, limited at 60 fps. I removed the limits for performance measurement purposes only. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
August 19, 20214 yr Ah all you people talking about Terrain LOD of 3, 4, 5, or even 6 - I'm on LOD 1.4 🤣 (so 140 on the silder) as going beyond that means I drop from 30 towards 20 FPS. Still a hell of a lot better than pre-SU5 though. Honestly I don't know what you're doing for a living, but I am evidently in the wrong job! August 19, 20214 yr @MrFuzzy I have Orbx London and London City Airport installed. Orbx London scenery is the Asobo UK update compatible version. I am at LOD 300 / 300, but when I take off from London City flying west towards Heathrow, as I go past the Canary Wharf buildings (HSBC etc.) they change from one type to the other in front of my eyes, which is a bit immersion breaking to say the least! I estimate it is from about 1/4 mile range. I think they are changing from Asobo default to Orbx. although the cable cars across the Thames are alright, and moving, so the Orbx pack is definitely installed alright. I also notice the London Eye changes at short range, and goes from static to rotating in front of my eyes (also from about a 1/4 mile). This has happened since SU5 - all good beforehand. I just wonder if you are seeing these issues? PS. London City Airport is fine, with the Orbx static aircraft etc. Edited August 19, 20214 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). My RTX 3070 cost me the equivalent in Australia of: 16 packets of cigarettes - or 3 bottles of 16 yo Glen Livet - or 5 hours real time flying - or roughly the annual registration of my motorcycle which I rarely get around to riding - or 10 tanks of fuel for my car - or 3 days accommodation at the beach for two people 16 x 1kg packs of steaks - or one 3 month instalment of council rates on my apartment For me it was money well spent even though I had to budget to afford it. Mind you the 3070s have doubled in price since I bought mine in December 2020 but I still would get one even at the current pricing.

It's all about priorities. 🙂 That being said, I just finished paying down my 3090, and I bought it in December 2020. I was looking for a 3080, but they were impossible to find. Anyways, I'm glad people with more normal hardware are able to enjoy the sim better now after SU5. Now, if they only would give us more sliders for those who bought a NASA computer... that would be great. August 19, 20214 yr Why would you lock frames if you have a G-Sync monitor? It defeats the purpose of the thing.

This happens in a lot of third party scenery since they changed something in SU5, and it’s up to the third party devs to fix their files, apparently. I also have exactly the same issue at ORBX EGNT. I can’t see it being fixed anytime soon.

You could make your own tests and check which option is the best for you. If your monitor is "true" G-Sync ultimate there is no reason to have any in-game v-sync enabled or lock/cap frames. The only reason that i cap frames sometimes is just to relax my 3090 from overworking all the time for high frames ( 80-90s) Edited August 19, 20214 yr by Seth2021 Intel Core i9-13900K | ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC 24GB | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | DDR5 64GB 6000-30 Trident Z5 RGB | Corsair ICUE H170i Elite Capellix RGB | Corsair 7000D Airflow ASUS ROG Thor Platinum II 1200 Watt | Samsung SSD 990 Pro NVMe M.2 2TB & 1TB | Alienware AW3423DW | Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 27" Gaming Monitor | VKB-Sim Gladiator Mk.II | Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant Airbus Edition
August 19, 20214 yr I'm experimenting with locking frames for two reasons 1 - Temps, my PC is in the conservatory, so ambient temps can be high. 2 - Frame times, it seems to me that locking at in-game vsync 20 (1/3 frames, so 48fps on my 144hz screen) yields a more stable experience. sure at high altitudes 100+ fps is great, but its only going to come down when I fly into big hubs.
