August 18, 20214 yr oddly engough, this has started happening to me also on longer flights. Two flights, two 'not responding' within 30 miles of landing. I will try again today. Shorter flights dont seem to have a problem, this next time I will closely monitor chip temps. August 18, 20214 yr I think it's happening when it's loading scenery at the destination, and there's some missing or corrupted file in the Community folder. Could even be something bought in the Marketplace that hasn't been updated to SU5. August 18, 20214 yr Today I had my first CTD's since I fully removed and then fresh-installed MSFS about 10 days ago. Both were shortly after takeoff from the default KTTD - Troutdale, Oregon. Happened twice. Using Addon Linker I removed a number of links to Portland area and other Oregon scenery mods. I also removed the shift-z and tall trees mods. No more CTDs and a successful flight followed. Flew to KONP, Newport, Oregon, in the C172 G1000. A nice KONP scenery was the only one I left in place for the flight. I have flown without issue over the past few days with the tall trees and shift-z mods, so I expect my issue was with a Portland scenery mod. August 18, 20214 yr Author I've flown twice since, one was to repeat the flight into KLGA, then I flew a slow guy to KEWR. Then later tried to load up a new flight, as soon as i tried to load KEWR as departure...crash! Before I'd even done anything. EDIT - Created a new flight going out of KEWR using the Icon, got up in the air, flew a few miles...crash. Edited August 18, 20214 yr by andyjohnston.net

It seems like stuffing MSFS with add ons and mods is a way to ride the CTD highway.

I believe it is more of a factor that as the MSFS landscape changes, that creates issues with the earlier or previous mods. I am beginning to weed out my mods that are not updated and marked as SU5 friendly. What would be great is if Asobo would publish a list of changes that might affect mods created earlier. The changelogs they are currently allowing to see daylight are more feature changes and improvements. Those with mechanical knowledge will appreciate my anecdote here: Let the world know so to speak what nut and bolt sizes have changed, when thread pitch has changed, what new hex keys might be needed. and what the new torque values are...... Well Carenado Just posted this on their Facebook page a couple of hours ago. Guess they are busy fixing what SU5 broke. Carenado UPDATES We continue working to fix the problems in our aircraft that arose with MSFS2020 Update 5. We hope that these updates will be available in the next days. August 18, 20214 yr I think the idea that every mod is loaded by default from your community folder is pretty much a recipe for disaster. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
