Best graphic settings?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can any kind soul point me in the direction of some reasonable graphic settings at the moment. I’m running a 3070 and used to have some good settings pre SU5 but since then I’ve found everything got reset and I can’t keep up with what best practice looks like at the moment as I read various (and at times contradictory) stuff as to what the settings should be.

Thanks

My 3070 lets me run everything on ultra with no issues.  Don't know how it would fare if I was running at 4k though.

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

This is a highly subjective thing. Just play with the sliders? Or, as I have a GTX1070 and can run it happily (for me) on full ultra settings, albeit at 1080p and capped 30FPS, why not start off with everything on max under the graphics options and go from there, tweaking down as you feel the need to. You can probably get away with ultra at 4K resolution on a RTX3070 card.

Thanks all for the responses so far. I appreciate it’s subjective but just a good starting point is helpful.

You have a 3070 the 3rd most powerful GPU on the market to date and ask what graphic settings are reasonable?

Just crank them all up to the max...

It really is trial and error. Someone with the exact same system as mine may have very different preferences. There are those with bionic eyes that can see frame rates that I certainly can't for instance so the only way is to test and see what you prefer.

Depending on what CPU and monitor you have, you should be able to run at Ultra with your 3070, I have a 2080Ti that should be equivalent to your card and I run the game at Ultra 3440x1440 without any problems.

What kind of FPS are we talking about with 3070 on Ultra at 3440x1440 ?

AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S

With RTX 3070 the starting point is everythink on ultra. There is not reason for lower setting.

At the bottom of the Graphics Settings screen, there is an option to set to defaults.  Surprisingly, this sets everything pretty much to max on my machine and I find it to be much closer to optimum than what someone else posts.  Of course, that's my experience and it may not be yours, but it only takes a few seconds to find out.  Every machine is slightly different and it's hard to find a "magic" setting.  NVidia control panel has a few optimizations which will help as well, but again, is pretty much up to the individual.

I get around 60fps with my 2080Ti in the country side, and 40-45 as lowest at busy big airports, and I have a I9 10900k cpu.

An impossible one to answer unfortunately 🙂 as everyone's  PC hardware is different. You didn't tell us your specs. If you have a powerful system whack everything to ultra, sit in the the 787 and do a slow flight over downtown NY or LA as a stress test to see what performance is like. Whack on the road traffic, sea traffic, live weather.

From here onwards you just have to play with the graphics sliders to set a baseline, a sweet spot for your system. You will be doing this constantly until you find that one setting that works for you.

So make a big cup of coffee and go test flying!

Thanks!

That's pretty much the same as I get. About 65-85 in non-complex scenery, and 45-55 in busy airports.

I think the 3090 is overpowered after SU5. There's no point in using it unless you're running 4K or above. Seriously considering selling it.

With your 3070, the biggest thing nagging at you will be heat. If you case and fans are good, go for the gold. If it heats you room up after 15 minutes, crank a few settings down.
