Sim rate is mapped by default to the R keypress, but it doesnt work for me, Is there other way to do it  ?

Yes, but the R works for me. Now for instance you could choose another key near R because you want to have keys to either increase or decrease sim rate. E key is right beside R and the not mapped to anything I would consider useful by default. In other words I don't consider SELECT ENGINE useful so I would unassign SELECT ENGINE from the E key.

Now you could for instance reassign things like this diagram. When you press R it will simultaneously turn on sim rate and also increase sim rate. And E key will simultaneously turn on sim rate and decrease sim rate.

The diagram shows why, in effect, R will simply increase simrate and E will simply decrease it. And so all you have to remember is to use two keys (E and R) for your simrate changes.

The above is just a suggestion.

TBH I just installed the "Mobile Companion" browser app and control sim rate from there.

You could download "Simrate Bandit" to get an aural indication as to the sim rate...that would be another way you could tell if it's working for you.

If you use two keys, like E and R, then you would just quickly tap either key so it only moves the sim rate by one notch. If you hold that key for even a half second it will increase or decrease enormously. Which you probably don't want to do.

To reset to normal: Hold down the E key and it will go down to 1/4 speed and stay there. Then tap the R key twice and goes to 1/2 and then to normal speed on the second tap.

The R key does work, you just need to press it and the keypad + or - key to increase or decrease the rate.  This is the standard default and it work great.

Since the SU5 hot fix I've had issues with SimRate, 

You can indeed assign R and E to sim rate increase and decrease.  Sim rate itself can be unassigned.

The clock on the PFD clearly shows the effect, but the Shift-Z app also displays the sim rate! 🙂

Other way for me.  I can now run at sim rate x32 which used to be impossible for me.

Hi Bert, what Shift-Z app?   

I'm also trying to figure out how to display other game modes on the top left or the top right of the screen like we were able to in previous versions of the sim eg. fps rate, sim rate, slew mode, drone mode, camera control (when in drone mode),, pause, brakes on, etc.

Simrate not working anymore on activities (bushtrips, landing challanges etc) and the new version of FlybyWire (not a bug, a feature), other than that no problems.

Thanks for that Glenn, I've been meaning to give that a try for ages and not got around to it.  Just downloaded and will give it a whirl later.
