October 2, 20214 yr Bought it on day 1. Uninstalled P3D immediately. IMHO, this sim has no rival. As others have said, enjoy the breathtaking scenery, but download various mods for procedural and aircraft performance realism. Issues remain, but, overall, this is a winner in all respects.

October 2, 20214 yr MSFS is the sim I dreamed of my entire life. And I'm 62. The one piece of advice I always pass along to new users is that you can vastly improve the performance of the sim -- which is already great! -- by lowering the Render Scale from 100 to around 70. The change in visual quality is imperceptible. But you'll gain at least 10 FPS. If the latter, I'm concerned it might break in a future MSFS update. Edited October 2, 20214 yr by bofhlusr Typo Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space. If the former, I'm concerned it might break in a future MSFS update. I believe the Turbo version was by Robert Young and has not been updated recently, due to ongoing health issues. The Project is regularly updated and there is a development mod for the more adventurous. Both suffer from ground handling issues that seem to be very difficult to resolve. Landing the Project goes well until you touch down on the runway, then you're sent in every direction at the slightest hint of a crosswind. If anyone can fix this behavior, this plane is simply remarkable. I think Rob Young mentioned adjusting rudder sensitivity could partly alleviate this problem. Lowering the Render Scale won't improve image quality. There will instead be a very tiny image degradation. But a locked frame rate at a reduced Render Scale will certainly prevent or totally eliminate stutters. I personally lock my FPS at 30. I run the sim at 4K but reduce the Render Scale to 50, which gives me a clean 1920 x 1080 resolution. It looks perfect on a 75" 4K TV. I might add that my computer system is over six years old -- has never been upgraded -- and, with these settings, works like a charm. My own opinion is that the overwhelming majority of the simmers reading this message have computers capable of getting superb performance out of the sim -- if they only resist the temptation to maximize every single slider to the far right. But, again, the Render Scale setting will either make or break your performance. I personally get far better results using 4K and scaling down, rather than using standard HD and scaling up. It's largely impacting the GPU so that comment makes sense coming from an older less capable GPU, and that is the OP's as well. The higher end machines have no trouble running all sliders on Ultra as well as editing the .cfg file to get double the LOD, and increase RS to boot. This is yet another phenomenal aspect of MSFS that it scales so well to a broad range of hardware, and that is about to get even better. I am not sure that "minor issues" is correct . I bought the program over a year ago. I have been using the MS help service for over a month because virtually none of the equipment being used to operate the software can have the appropriate bindings assigned. Every suggestion made to solve the problem has failed. I have both the Alpha Yoke and Bravo quadrant attached and recognised and apparently a lot of buttons assigned but in practice none of them operate or can be replaced manually. Obviously there are many people without problems but the many forums show that there are plenty of people frustrated by a wide number of problems. For me the program at present is "NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE" because it just cannot be used. So I do not think that "Minor issues" is appropriate. Rather than update and provide multi gigabyte improvements they should fix all of the current issues first. For those without problems enjoy it looks great in the adds.

Why are there so many posts about problems with Alpha yokes and Bravo quads. I read complaint after complaint about these two hardware products having problems. Glad I don't use either one.
