It's free to download.  Try it.  It might surprise you.

No wonder so much focus has gone into that version.

Realistically there are two versions.

The POSIX version. Which covers MacOS, IOS, Android and Linux. IEEE Std 1003.1c-1995 is the likely reason for:

Under Linux, especially in intensive areas like KLAX with maximum object rendering, I'm seeing a solid 10-12 or even 15FPS higher FPS, which is a lot when it's sometimes dipping under 30 on Windows.

And the windows version, which is used on roughly 50% of XPlane desktop PCs.

Yep, the windows version has been right at the bottom of their priorities list for a while, Austin has said in interviews the convergance is such  that he expects "soon" there will be no difference between any of the builds: That isnt going to come from the likes of Android adopting windows paradigms.

Absolutely agree that flatpak isnt the future. Its a great example of the truth that new doesnt always mean better.

Those security issues are the main reason it has no chance of widespread adoption by users.

I have downloaded it. It didn't surprise me. Waving my phone around in front of my face was, frankly, embarrassing. Think I'll stick to Solitaire.

I hope you weren’t expecting to plug your joystick into your phone.

No  wasn't expecting to do that. The flight model was so amazing I didn't feel the need.😂 Is this what we are reduced to? A telephone App?

No one is forcing you to use it. There are others who enjoy it, who prefer it over the desktop version.

Well, current stats put more than 5 times as many Android installs of X-Plane (5 million+) than windows 11 (~1 million, src, 0.24% of 500 million)

Considering many of them are paying $1200 for their "phone", and most don't even have a desktop.

If you really need to put it that way, I dont think many would argue.

It's free to download. That's why it's been downloaded so many times. Doesn't mean people are actually using it.

Yes, the app is free to download.  LR make their money from the payware that is available for XP mobile.  The sales for the add ons are so high, LR have improved XP Mobile to accomodate more complex add ons.  They wouldn't have done this if sales weren't strong enough.  This has been going on since XP10.
