Constant disconnect from the ATC's Azure servers

Featured Replies

Alright, community check on this as I'd like to see if this is isolated to me or is this common for everyone. I consistently lose the connection to the ATC server, sometimes 10 mins into the flight, the other half way through the flight. I can only hear my co-pilot answering the ATC's instructions, all other traffic chatter is gone. I know this started happening and was reported to Asobo since SU5, but I don't know whether it was even acknowledged as a bug. Are you guys consistently experiencing this too?

Have had it once few days ago. And another one several month ago.

So no , not very often

I think there are actually 2 separate problems:

1 - Azure voices disconnect (pretty often) and the more robotic, synthesized voices built into the sim take their place.  The good news is that Azure eventually re-connects on its own and the voices return to normal.

2 - ATC and/or Pilot voices disappear (including any text dialogue for the voices that went mute).  This does not correct itself and the voices are MIA for the rest of the flight.  From my observations, it happens most often when I have the AI co-pilot handle the comms instead of manually interacting with ATC myself.  I've also noticed it happens a lot with the B787; but that may be because I'm more prone to use the co-pilot when flying that aircraft.

There's a thread over at the official forums that discusses the issue, suggest you cast a vote for it:

I had #1 happened last evening, it did finally reconnect and these are actually Windows built in voices that are used during the disconnect.

On #2, that's very frequent for me, I'd say every other flight it happens to me. It starts with the switch to the Windows voice, then it's gone.

It's an annoyance which I can live with, as long as it gets fixed. Definitely started happening for me post SU5.

I had this happen recently and it seemed like it stemmed from my practice of not closing MSFS to the desktop very often.  I do this because I don't have to go the the Dev Mode toggle if I don't close MSFS to the desktop.  Once I closed MSFS and relaunched ATC functioned normally again.

I turned off the connection to Azure for ATC and dealing with default Windows voices, but I never lose ATC now. It became an issue for me on every flight as of last two weeks. I would love to find out how this doesn't happen for some and for others constantly and I hope this is fixed by SU8 the latest.

How do you guys install the Win 10 default voices ?

When I set Azure ATC to Off, I get no voice at all - text only.

Thx for any hints 🙂

I lose Azure TTS on nearly every flight. When I check my ISP speed, pingtime, ETC, all is well. Sometimes I will lose Azure during a flight and it will return. Like right now, this flight.

I feel like I lose azure voices nearly every flight of any duration more than 30 minutes or so.

I don’t think I’ve had a longer flight complete without this issue occurring since Ainstallong AIG, almost as if the Azure connection cannot handle that many ATC calls.  Just a wild guess on my part though.

I capitulated and turned Azure ATC off completely, I now at least have ATC from the beginning to the end of each flight. Initially after SU5 it was random, but somewhere around end of September it was on every flight.

The thought of AIG calls also came to mind, but if I don't use AIG and the stock live AI, it's the same thing. There is something seriously hosed on their end that is hopefully addressed with SU8. So frustrating!
