BROKEN PLANES AGAIN

Featured Replies

It would seem we need to wait for Ms/Asobo to "update the update" ...then wait for the developers to update their work before we can fly many of the addons we have paid for.   This will take weeks if not months and then the process begins again.  This is the seventh time.

How much longer will this nonsense continue?

The money is nothing compared too the amount of time they are demanding of us to search for solutions ... find there are none and then continue the wait.

No need to shout, especially when the content adds nothing to what is already posted multiple times around the forum.

Not shouting (that would be all caps) just using standard English to emphasize words.  Perhaps we need to keep posting until they gain some respect for the amount of time these "updates" are costing us.

So you are saying that the topic title is NOT all caps? Come on, even your forum name is all caps.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I've been around sims for a looong time and -- isn't that how its always been though?  I mean for recent sims which were/are constantly in development.  Updates happen, and add-ons break.

That's true but not every six to eight weeks.

I guess its the price we pay for frequent innovation and progress.

As long as the plane developers stay on top of it, I'm ok with it.  But I share your concern that not all of them will.  Abandonware isn't something we want to see.  I would be more concerned if we still had this issue, say, 5 years from now.  By then, I expect most of the key features of this sim (like the weather, which is a hot topic right now) will be fairly baked in and airplane add-ons won't have moving goalposts every 6-8 weeks.

I wonder how many will be willing to stay on this merry-go-round for five years.  Can you imagine the number of hours of your life that will be spent in the usual "search, tweak and wait" game.  There is simply no payoff for the effort when you plan to spend an hour or two flying and then encounter the "issue of the day" and spend 3 or 4 hours searching for a solution only to find there isn't one.

Let it go, what's the issue?

This is basically how I feel about it. Asobo has said from the beginning that they were going to be actively developing the sim. Robert Randazzo recently wrote that Asobo's roadmap is highly ambitious. This is not a mature, stable software platform.  It is still going through teething pains and it is under the pressures of continual development, fueled somewhat by a myriad of conflicting expectations and desires. We have been at this for nearly a year and a half and I think this is how it is going to be -- messy. But, I have never enjoyed a simulator as much.

If we've experienced the early days of FSX where you had to avoid accessing the menus during flight, or clicking outside the sim window because of CTDs, and subsequently not having ANY updates for years, we can be patient enough to hopefully see this one reach its potential,
