November 27, 20214 yr I am not a big fan of the Asobo PC-6 and I am tired of looking at this image with the emerald water background while loading the sim. I would like to substitute one of the other earlier images (French Aps near Courchevel). Anyone advise me which to look for the PC-6 image? I have the Steam version. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . November 27, 20214 yr For a standard MSFS store ver and install go to: C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base\missions\Common\LOADING\ Al Edited November 27, 20214 yr by ark
November 27, 20214 yr What is interesting to me is that many (if not all) the images in \FlightSim\Official\Steam\fs-base\missions\Common\LOADING\FreeFlight\LOADING_FREEFLIGHT.jpg were taken prior to SU7, it is here you can clearly see the radical change in the wx generation. I am sure that ASOBO will be able to get back to this with limited metar inclusion in next big fix in about 6 weeks(?). November 27, 20214 yr Author @Dominique. the link to the JimBrown post in the MSFS Forum helped a lot. My path was similar enough for me to chase down the images. Quite a rabbit hole and in multiple locations for me. I failed to replace the first screen but got the second one that has the longer wait time. I am pleased with my success. Thank you very much and thanks to JimBrown for his post. Here is my new wait screen. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
November 27, 20214 yr Great tip. Wasn't a fan of it either, dropped something in from my screenshot folder instead that's not so bright; [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

With a standard MSFS store ver install the initial PC-6 splash screen onboarding.jpg seems to be here, but changing it seems to be a challenge. Seems protected somehow. I've found that file on my MS Store version, but can't change it either. Keeps complaining about "not enough space" (!!). EDIT: On further investigation, it turns out that file is "protected". I couldn't find a way around that 😞 Edited November 28, 20214 yr by Adamski_NZ

If so, I fail to understand the logic behind protecting a file on the MS store version when it is not protected on the Steam version. To be honest, the whole MSFS/XBox encryption thing is a total mess, IMHO - and nothing but trouble. I've owned dozens of games/sims over the years and none of them have needed this insane level of protection. What's more, MSFS writes itself all over my system in countless (also totally illogical) locations. I could go on ...
November 29, 20214 yr The extra security comes from it being a Windows Store App, not just MSFS. so only the ‘TrustedInstaller’ user can modify the files. You can take ownership but it might get overwritten on an update. Edited November 29, 20214 yr by NZ255
