December 28, 20214 yr Moderator @Fielder I removed the link due to the language and sensitivity. If anyone wants to hear the communication they can search it on YouTube themselves. That being said, I can understand the pilots last words if I realize I was about the drill a hole in the ground. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 28, 20214 yr Another circle to land ending in a loss of life incident. Max Trescott offers his perspective here.
December 28, 20214 yr CFR Part 135 requires that aircraft must be capable of landing within 60 percent of the available runway length. A Lear landing on Rwy17 would need to be able to land at (0.60 x 4145ft) or 2487ft whereas Rwy27R (0.60 x 5342ft) or 3,205ft. Perhaps the pilot felt he needed the extra 718 ft that Rwy27R provided? Sad it didn't work out! Martin

December 28, 20214 yr I hate to get stuck into air crashes, but it is an important part of being a pilot (in RL anyway). I like this guy's coverage of incidents. He's a airline pilot and has his ducks in a row. I linked his report on the Cessna crash you mentioned. He does a good job of explaining what may have led to the accident. I wonder if this guy stalled while making his turn to the runway?

December 29, 20214 yr I wished all these "experts" stop speculating, especially when people died. It takes months end even years to conclude an investigation. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
