Gliders need a lot of rudder generally. U remember training on a Bocian which needed full initial rudder to get it into a turn at all.

With the guys behind this glider I'd be surprised if they had got this wrong, but away for New Year so can't test...

Are you sure you don't have the rudder-assist enabled?

...

I'm not a glider pilot but I had to use pretty much rudder to keep the plane aligned with the virtual winch down below.
Maybe it was the weather I selected: Sunny Alps.

HNY Everyone!

This is fantastic! Took off from LUKLA and been soaring around the mountains for 30 mins so far, really enjoying it.

Can anyone recommend some nice soaring locations?

The Alps. Good mesh and good photoreal.

I double checked, my assistance options are "True Life". I also checked from exterior view when turning, the rudder was not moving unless I gave input. When I give input, it's yawing way too much for such small inputs. I can easily fly around as if I was getting rudder assist and the yaw string remains fairly happy. Anyway, this is just my experience. Could be my setup. Others will hopefully chime in after testing.

I also noticed it rolls an awfully long time after landing. I'm not landing that fast 🙂 Just a minor quibble.

While it currently flies somewhat unrealistically to me (again, could by my setup), it's a fantastic start. I could probably change my rudder sensitivity or something and tune it in, but I don't want to mess with my power flying.

I'm really pleased with it overall because I can see the potential. Great work to all those involved in making this happen - and for free! I highly recommend to anyone interested in soaring to give it a shot.

Just did an extended test flight arriving at Cheddar at 1500 feet.  Soared the south side of the Mendips to 2000 feet in a 15kt SW wind then landed at Halesland.  Took off again from the winch and soared back along the Mendips landing on what is left of the old WW2 airfield there.  Managed to calculate the circuits and approaches to both airfields pretty well and landed fairly decently considering my lack of time in this aircraft.  Flies rather how I would expect, though would like to hear a resounding clunk when the cable is released.  Not sure how well msfs is modeling ridge lift as although I got plenty of it, it was not always where I would have expexcted to find it, there was not that much rotor on the lee side and it seemed a bit hit and miss compared to the real world.

All in all a great model though and I'm looking forward to having a bit of time to give it another go in perhaps more challenging conditions.

Hi to anyone who flies at Halesland or flew at the old Weston super mare airfield BTW.

Next is to sort out the kinetic assistant and download the aerotow addon (I much prefer those to winch launches of which I've had hundreds in the RW).

May need an update from Asobo. I want to actually fly the tow with my Kodiak and be able to switch aircraft then release it. Then it should switch you to the glider if you're not already there. The tow plane should keep flying automatically in the same direction and turn off and fly away. This would make it more realistic. Also speaking of the Kodiak there should be a similar feature to open the door mid flight and jump out sky diving. These two features should happen and for the fun factor (more sales). Obviously the other sims cannot do it.

Thanks, I was after some more specific airfields where I could winch up form high ground and land lower.

I think I would like to give this a proper try later.  Is there any wing flex?  Or is that wing angle built in?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Without knowing I've been soaring for 1.5 hours. Chasing thermals make you completely forget the time. 😋👍

Fantastic model.

Love flying it.

I don't know the actual model so I can't comment on realism in the model.

But it is pretty easy to fly, it is interesting if you enter the clouds in a thermal. I was getting 2-3000 FPM climb in the dark clouds. A bit scary. Oh yeah  have to remind myself it is just a sim.

I just spent 2 hrs gliding around my home base KIZG. Landed at 4 local small fields and 2 off field landings in farmers fields one is a turf farm, and it looks like one.

I will definitely buy the final payware version. Already much more fun than the X-plane gliders I have flown.

I give this one  🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙!

Yep, same. An overcooked meal was the victim of it 🙂
