Something different happened this time.  Still asked me to install 115GB or whatever but I selected my current folder where its already installed and it just moved into the Home screen.  Going to reboot and see if it's normal again or not.

Fingers crossed.

Same for me. What wonders me is that after the 115 gb download the free space on my ssd was halfed so assume some double folder structure wich shouldn‘t be as i installed in the same directory…..

Exactly what happened to me. After pointing the installer in the right direction the update went from 100+ to seemingly nothing at all as I just got into the menu in half a second.

Sorry to see people downloading 100+ GB again. For me it was really easy, with just 530 MB to download the official hotfix update, plus some 2,5 GB from the Content Manager (in case you decide to go with those).

Could it be that people should be on Steam and did not opt for the beta?.

Another undocumented feature (sic) I ran into was that some of my keyboard settings and my FBW A32NX throttle settings were forked up. Oh well, compared to you guys that had to do a reinstall I should just be very happy.

I got the 1st part early in the AM. I let it install and did a flight. I played around in dev mode a while, which required several reboots. I thought I was done. Later in the day I read the post about removing myself from the beta. I hadn't sone that, so I did. After that, I fired up the sim and got a "mid-sized" update of 800Mb or so. Then the sim restarted and I got the whole darn thing. Fortunately, that takes less than an hour with my internet connection, so its no big deal.

I never have bad install issues, but I have to do a bit of a dance to get them going every time. My "unofficial" routine which works for me, but probably no one else is as follows. I log into the MS Store and go to Library at the bottom. Then I open up the Xbox app and make sure that I am logged in. I leave the Xbox app open go back to the Store and click the blue "Get Updates" button. Sometimes, this gets the update going. If it does not, I close both apps, reboot my PC, and launch the sim. This will start the process if the updates button didn't work. This has worked 3 times in a row. They need to pick one app to manage the MSFS installations. Store, or Xbox. Pick one. Not both. Once the updates have launched, they've always been as smooth as butter.

It's FS2020's Russian Roulette. Never a dull moment. What is awaiting us with the next update, I wonder? 🙂

It's exciting. Like Christmas morning!

Seems like the install dance is not usually the same for me, and never fails to frustrate. Why can’t Microsoft create an install prompt with three choices when an update is required. This would be invoked when the sim detects that a mandatory update Is required. One button would be labeled “Steam”, one “Store”, and one “Custom”. The last one being for those who prefer to control where they install their sim. The first two would use default install parameters. Pressing them would run scripts to update required mandatory changes. Upon completion the user would be reminded to start the sim and update any optional content manager file as desired. The third button would lead user to navigate to where their sim is - and yes, might be a little messy. I would think a skilled programmer could knock this task out easily!

My update is 127gb, now 50gb has done, so only 77gb is left, but when it gets to 322 of 412 it just jams up on decrompressing file and runs in a end less loop, it has been downloaded from the store on PC with my Xbox play account, another is no man's sky, says it cannot run on my PC, PC was built by  me few years back, ryzen 7 1800x CPU, MSI b350 pc mate motherboard 64gb 2400hz ram, Samsung m.2 SSD 512mb, runs os and drivers, backed with 6tb hdd and 2× 8tb hdd's, it is installed on one of the 8tb drives, which also contains my origin/EA play account, linked to game pass account, and my gpu is a MSI gtx 1080ti 11gb liquid cooled, as is CPU (h100i) neither have been over 50°c, and never o'ced, so what should I do?
