January 12, 20224 yr The Mooney M20R is easy to get hooked on. I can't stop flying it. 5 MHz 8087 IBM Clone, 640k RAM, 10 MB HD, Hercules 64k Graphics card, 14 in Monochrome Monitor, CH Products Mach-1 Joy Stick.

Seems to me a relevant question is what type of flying do you favor (if any)? If you are mainly interested in sight seeing, than a high wing a/c might be best. If you like to fly into small back country airstrips (such as in Alaska) then maybe something like the Kodiak would be best. If you like to fly cross country and value cruise speed, then something like the Turbo G36 Bonanza might be a good fit. If all of the above, then I think the Kodiak 100 might be a good compromise. Other questions could be do you have a preference for a steam gauge or glass cockpit, single engine or twin, retractable or fixed gear? Al Edited January 12, 20224 yr by ark
January 12, 20224 yr The Bonanza and the Baron are 2 of the best flying GA planes in real life. The (stock) sim versions are…well…boring and don’t do them justice at all. I’ll have to take a look at the improvement mods because I really want to love these planes in the sim. Chris
January 12, 20224 yr I found default C172 with six pack pretty good. I feel that it flies quite close the real thing. The major problem is the excessive yaw when exiting stall and slip. It's slow for touring over a bit long distance though. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11
January 12, 20224 yr I recommend JF Warrior or JPlogistics C-152 Mod. Edited January 12, 20224 yr by Ixoye System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
January 12, 20224 yr As many others have said: Rob Youngs Bonanza mod along with the Kodiak - mainly because it's ability to use the G1000NXi mod, which is the best avionics available right now in MSFS. I really can't wait for them (Working Title) to finally update the G3000/5000 suite.
January 14, 20224 yr All of the suggestions are excellent choices. I personally use Rob Young's Bonanza, also use the Turbo version, enjoy the JPL152 , the TBM and the JF Turbo Arrow. But one offering by B4gunner at the flightsim.to site that hasn't been mentioned is the Ryan Navion. It's freeware, very authentic in its flight behavior and still uses "steam gauges". It just is stable in the air. I know it isn't fancy or glitzy, but the developer has done an very excellent job in his exterior and interior renderings. His systems are simple but adequate. He updates it regularly and has an additional model called the Super Navion reflecting characteristics similar to the Got Gravel's Vertigo. I whole heartily recommend giving the Navion a close look. It's pedigree isn't as long as Rob's Bonanza, but it's in the same category of aircraft. It's great for a quick jump in and go flight. You can't go wrong with any of the suggestions mentioned.in this thread. Edited January 14, 20224 yr by simtech209 added info
January 14, 20224 yr I haven't seen the Van's RV-7 and RV-7A by Deejing being mentioned https://flightsim.to/file/23192/van-s-rv-7
