January 17, 20224 yr Hi guys, I have spent insane amount of time tweaking P3D v1.x to 5.x over the years and out of the blue Xp 11.55 gives me the best performance right of the bat especially on my older cpu i7-5820K+Nvidia Super 2070 RTX (OCed 4.3ghz with 64gb Quad config DDR4) with 4K Native Resolution Monitors. I barely spent any time tweaking Xplane 11 and holy #%%% mind blowing graphics. I can't even describe on how amazing this is. P3D always kept me tweaking till the cows come home, I have spent more time tweaking than simming Xplane 11 was okay, but it wasn't till 11.55 Vulkan got stabilized - this is the Magic release for me, and I can't wait for Xp12 and see where it goes. Even the current VR implementation is the best out there. TrueEarth HD versions are just jaw dropping good with insane performance, heck I see road traffic with lights OMG. Heck in P3D this causes FPS loss and all kinds of poopey things happen. I am not fighting for 30fps anymore. I am getting 60+ fps with some complex GA planes. Even the installation is super easy - most of them are just junctioned directories into the aircraft folder of Xplane 11 and Xorganizer app does a smashing good job. Just look the Detail of Orbx TE - There is no LOD blurry thing...it is just smooth and full detail all at once. I can't describe the feeling in words on here unless I can get super creative expletives on here. This is Magic to me Thank you Xplane Devs PS - I can't wait to try HotStart's 650 soon. However, I thought there's is got to be a better way than this. I went through that going to FSX for the first time when building my first system. I was not going through that again for another sim. So I went to X plane and saw the only thing I need to get familiar with where the setting within the sim. No fs9.cfg to deal with or anything similar. That was with X Plane 10. I got even easier with XP11. I you haven't a;ready, get xOrganizer for you scenery. It help keep you scenery in the correct order without you having the spend time in the scenery ini file. Plus it allow you as easier way to view and insure you scenery installation are correctly align after you install them. If they are you move them accordingly and it save it. Also you manage your plug in was well. Nice utility to have if you don't want to spend a lot of time make manual adjustments. Enjoy!!!!! 😊 Edited January 17, 20224 yr by BobFS88
January 17, 20224 yr I’m looking forward to XP12 as much as everyone else but I must admit to being slightly apprehensive as well. XP 11 with all my true earth scenery is running super smooth and reliable and I’m finally at a stage where my new hardware can overpower it even in VR, life is good. P3D 5.3 is running great at the moment as well I don’t want my stability and smoothness to end now, I’m quit content with how things are. I’m not saying XP12 WILL upset my flight sim utopia ….but we’ve all been here long enough to know what new sims can be like😉 787 captain. I would definitely recommend keeping XP11 for your regular flying, and only purchase X-Plane 12 on release, if you are willing to check it out and/or take part in the beta. You don't have to take part in the beta and submit bug reports, but go in there knowing that you will likely experience some initial beta issues. Edited January 17, 20224 yr by GoranM

I am keeping my XP11 installation and I don't intend to due any tuning and troubleshooting with XP12. I will just delay my usage by few months when I am pretty sure few patches will happen, more addon will work and things will smoothen out. I been a an early adopter for a bit too long. January 21, 20224 yr Commercial Member Strangely, Vulkan performs worse than OpenGL on my system. FPS is the same practically, but I have huge fps drops (50% of fps drop to be precise) in Vulkan mode, huge amount of data gets written to page file, eating most of CPU cycles = huge fps drop. Doesn't happen in OpenGL mode, and luckily same fps. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
January 23, 20224 yr The last time I installed X-Plane 11, already with the new rig powered by a Ryzen 5600x CPU and a GTX 3060 8 GB GPU, I was still in Win 10, but it was a true performance experience. I wonder if I could get further from Win 11 which is what I now have, and don't look back in as far as the operating system goes... But indeed X-Plane 11 had Vulkan as one of it's major steps forward in the history of the platform, and I look fwd for ED to migrate DCS World to Vulkan too. Vulkan also made all of the difference when I used "Enhanced Skyscapes". January 23, 20224 yr Vulkan, on areas where I'm not limited by my 2600K CPU or my Titan (Pascal) doubled my frame rates. I was in the low 20s in certain areas and now I'm reading 40s. It's amazing! XP11 has matured with some outstanding add-ons and it's currently my preferred sim for personal refresher training. I'm looking forward to XP12 and hope that my add-ons work, but if not, XP11 will continue to give me years of satisfaction while MSFS matures. MSFS

I just took a flight in XP11.55 the other day, out of months of not using it...have been focusing on P3D v5.x. Well, I set myself up in Orbx's Key West, and flew to Miami, where I have been fooling around with a P3D Miami X recent install. I had obviously forgot how good and smooth XP11.55 is....and really enjoyed the eye candy and performance. So...for myself...along with the recent MSFS W7, which I found to be really good....I'm all set up. I have three choices now, that in my view, all have their few perks over the other. So...time to cycle through them on a regular and not so much sporadic basis that I have been for a couple of months. For sure though, I will be buying XP12, as I have always been an XP supporter since v8.x
