Not good for gamers, creativity comes with competition not integration.

So perhaps they will convert more games to simulations....   ?

Mods please move unless someone can figure out how this applies to MSFS or Asobo.

Of course this purchase can affect MSFS or Asobo, what if the likes of COD appears on Game Pass, over 30 million players for Call of Duty Cold war alone, that's potential income for MSFS via Game Pass. You never know even if 0.5% of those 30 million players found out they loved MSFS, that's still 150,000 new simmers, with all that revenue that such a number would bring?

AMD 9800X3D,  NZXT X73 RGB AIO COOLER, Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WIFI7, 64GB 6000MHZ RAM, 4TB Samsung Pro NVME, 4 TB Crucial P3+ NVME, 4TB Crucial SSD, Gigabyte Gaming OC Geforce RTX5090, Antec C8 ARGB Case, X55 JOYSTICK/THROTTLES, LG 4K C4 42" TV/Monitor 120 Hz, 2 Dell 1080 monitors. Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle. Thrustmaster TPR Pedals. Moza AB6 FFB Joystick, Pimax Crystal Light VR, Tobii Eye tracker, Steelseries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones.

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.

So  you think some one in the hanger wouldn't be interested ? Let the moderators moderate.

The thread was started in the MSFS 2020 forum .. which was not the appropriate place for discussion hence my post. Apparently you did not realize this.

Moderators have moved this to the appropriate forum post request.

Moderators may not catch everything .. as a former moderator on a much larger forum and an IT admin i can personally attest that user input is welcome to ensure prompt attention.

You can now carry on to the ACTUAL topic at hand

Have a good one.

Re read my post then try to do the link .. if you feel if its that important to you. (apparently the mods didnt and moved the thread to the correct area). As a matter of fact similar threads have been closed over at the official MSFS forums for the very lack of linkage between the acquisition of Activision and the Sim

My last post on this topic.. I' heading back over to my interest which is MSFS..

Have a good day.

If you read my original post I sent a message to the mods that the post might be in the wrong area, I'm not denying that, but this acquisition has the potential to be hugely positive for MSFS . Basically the mods have done what I asked of them, to put it in the right subsection.

The mods moving the post doesn't necessarily mean it has no relevance to MSFS.

Crypto-craze making gaming hardware hard to find and very expensive, and the cost of gaming PCs have skyrocketed and PS5 and XBOX are still SOLD OUT with no sign of supply increasing for 2022 and into 2023

Game Pass + Cloud gaming, making the actual hardware irrelevant, it could be a tiny USB-Xbox-Chromebox-like thing, for that matter. That's what Microsoft really want to sell you: software as a service, it has been Nadella's focus since he became CEO.

Your spot on Umberto.

Twotonemurphy and Gibboireland showing off exactly this on Youtube, yes there's still a few issues but it's nearly here.

Seems like odd timing to acquire a gaming company during a Pandemic with no sight it will end, Crypto-craze making gaming hardware hard to find and very expensive, and the cost of gaming PCs have skyrocketed and PS5 and XBOX are still SOLD OUT with no sign of supply increasing for 2022 and into 2023 ... and more fabs not going online until 2024, 2025.

The $200 Billion gaming industry still seems to have NO clout when it comes to getting nVidia, AMD, Intel to diversify their distribution and stop mass selling to Crypto mining corporations?  Gaming industry significantly stifled by lack on of availability of retail gaming hardware.

Rob.

From some articles, it sounds like it was a good opportunity for Microsoft to buy as Activition's stock price was below it's 2021 peak price.

Other than increasing manufacturing capacity, which takes time, I'm not sure any company can reasonably do anything to fix the availability of GPUs. Those crypto companeis will find a way to get the hardware they need as long as they're making money. The only real change would be for governments everywhere to outright ban crypto mining, or heavily regulate and tax the crypto companies to make it far less profitable. Either way, this acquisition will be at least partially about setting up a decent game streaming library for Microsoft, at which point owning a gaming PC or Xbox is largely moot.

Steam set a user record of almost 28 million concurrent users a few weeks ago, so while there are hardware supply crunches, it doesn't seem to be hurting the number of users who are playing games. Also, with Intel back in the lead performance and cost-wise (and ample supply due to their own fabs), AMD processors will likely face less demand, which will free up manufacturing for other TSMC partners. People seem to forget about mobile as well... Candy Crush and COD Mobile will soon be Microsoft IP... that is huge and automatically makes MS a heavyweight in the mobile gaming market.

Absolutely...

MSFS2020 is designed to be streamed and push is for Xbox Gaming Pass period If people don't realize it well it is their problem lol.

I saw this coming a mile, and even told people about years ago.....

Heck, these days Panera bread wants to sell your Coffee Subscription....everyone wants service as a model.

You're right Sue. I've spent way too many hours in airport hangars and this isn't something I'd ever expect to hear there. Or maybe it's just that I'm an old fart and have no idea of what "modern" hangar talk is like.

What used to be discussed in hangars is no longer politically correct to discuss.
