The version will not include crew and passenger boarding?

Of course it will. It will have all that GSX for P3D had.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

It sounds more exciting this way:

"It will include in the Base product what used to be a paid Expansion in P3D"

Do you mean ones that replace all the default MSFS jetway models?

yes, LATINVFR Jetway Pro.  It would not be cool for me if these were over written.

I have that too, but I'm willing to stop using it for GSX, as the GSX jetways have custom graphics and such for different airports around the world if I read that post correctly.

I imagine it may depend where it is in your load order for what Jetways load instead. But don't quote me on that.

Would you rather have:

1) The same jetway model all over the world, with just one livery.

or

2) Different models, for different regions (glass, metal smooth, metal corrugated), with more than 300 different liveries, all available at the same time, with a 10-level LOD optimization so they looks better and are easier on frame rates too, and they also come with *matching* bridges (we replaced them too), so you won't see funny things like the Asobo solid metal bridge ending in a glassed jetway, and with even extra random clutter on ground to make the airport more alive ?

Hint: GSX is #2...

However, it's not that we haven't thought about those earlier jetway replacements products, because we obviously did so, GSX will have a Configuration Panel in which you can do several things, for example:

- Click a button to detect all your 3rd party sceneries, and EXCLUDE them from having their jetways replaced. Those that conforms to the developer-airport-icao-name standard the SDK suggests to use ( and the MS Marketplace mandates to use ) will be automatically recognized and be suggested as candidate for preventing replacement by GSX.

- Specify by-ICAO, which additional airports you want to keep their original jetways. Maybe because the package name didn't conform to the aforementioned naming convention, or because you have other reasons why you don't want GSX's jetways there, you have all the flexibility you want.

Obviously, the GSX installer would do this automatically for all FSDT sceneries that are found to be installed but, we couldn't do this as an automatic choice for 3rd party sceneries, because some of them might use the default Asobo model, others might use their own custom jetways but, in both cases, it would be difficult to make a choice.

If a scenery used the Asobo jetway model, you usually *want* to have it replaced by GSX, but if you have another jetway replacement product, only you can decide which one you like best, so we couldn't do that automatically and, for the same reason, even if the scenery came with custom jetways, it's not certain that would always better than GSX's version, lots of 3rd party sceneries out there don't even have LODs, so you might still want to replace them, if only for performance reasons but again, that's not a choice we could make automatically, that's why there's a Configuration Panel

The same is valid for Airport services. GSX comes with 15000 Airport Services files so, instead of having vehicles chosen "by region", as with all the other existing "ground replacement" products, we made individual Airport Services files, so even if you decided to use GSX as a simple ground replacement product, those services would still show vehicles appropriate to that *ICAO*, not that region. HOWEVER, since some 3rd party airports might come with their own Airport Service files, there *another* list in the Control Panel, where you can choose which ICAO code shouldn't have their Airport Services replaced by GSX.

This is looking to be everything I had hoped for with GSX for MSFS! Can’t wait for it to release!

Yeah I also own the LatinVFR replacements, jetways and vehicles, but I'm happy to retire them for GSX, they were a nice hold over, and I'm glad to have supported LVFR when buying them.

I'm like a squirrel waiting for his hazelnut 😁

For the Pro package and Lite, can we use both at the same time?

How long has been since you last used GSX ? This kind of comment about comparing it to "real easy to use" solutions, seem you never tried the QuickEdit pushback, which in addition of allowing to pre-plan a push back route on the fly, it automatically save it for that specific parking position for later use, so if you use that parking spot again, it's already there.

As others pointed out, GSX works automatically 90% of the time, without any need to pre-plan anything. You only need to pre-plan in specific places like the last gate in a cul-de-sac terminal.

When it failed in straightforward Left/Right situations, it was almost invariably because of bugs in 3rd party BGLs, which were made in strange ways, or with lots of bugs. You don't have any idea how much code is there in GSX to defend itself against bugs in the sceneries.

However, this is much less common in MSFS because, the included Dev Mode is way more strict, so it won't even allow to compile airports with the usual bugs like overlapping nodes, orphaned nodes, duplicate parking names, unlinked paths, and with every update, it becomes more and more strict, making way more difficult to release an airport with issues, and that will help GSX as well.

I'll do a video shortly to prove how fast and easier planning is, but it's important to note that it's the automatic pushback which is the real value of GSX: always requiring planning or force you to drive the truck it's the easy way out because figuring it out automatically where you need to go based on just a Left or Right input it's way harder.

Thanks for your feedback, aprreciated. Actually using gsx for ten years should allow me my own view on things and I stopped using it just a few months ago, beeing coincidentally the same time I started p3d last time. I loved it and had great times with gsx and on quite a few occasions I word not allowed it and it was driving one nuts. But yes, the esp platforms were for sure a pain from dev point of view. As I'm not a single sim user I usually compare to other solutions and sometimes other products that offer at least alternatives that are quite useful or more intuitive to use. From a dev side of view I agree with you. 90% of the users will always choose the "yes please right/left on the taxiway", perhaps 10% would like to have a intuitive preplan pushback and some few find the idea cool to drive the pushback truck (I have at least two in my mind that actually in real world drive pushbacks and loved the idea to do it in sim). But you are right better concentrate on one core solution and if its working better then before most people will be happy.

I know time is precious but some more videos showing stuff like pushback and the msfs way of preplan/quickedit would be cool for sure.

One more question, as I'm doing a lot of beta testing for scenery stuff I need most addon solutions to be on/off with just one move in and out of the addon folder. With the older platforms it was quite a deep install into the system itself. How is it done in msfs? Single (or more) folder in the comm folder and thats it?

Thx and Cheers

The Pro package includes the lite package, so yes.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I am the kind of pilot who only looks at the panels while on the ground and who only looks outside during taxi (because you have to) and once airborne (because I want to). I am also the kind of simmer who never ever buys airport scenery addons because I find them a waste of money since MSFS offers what I want already.

Does FSG 2.0 offer something that might be of interest to me...?

Everyone seems to be super excited about GSX while I only think 'Why care about what's going on outside your plane while on the ground and you are busy doing other things...?' And why spend money on that...? Am I missing something or is this simply nothing for me? ;)

I think it is not for you, but I also think you are missing out on a lot of fun.

No folder in the Community at all. Just a shortcut, with the On/Off switch on our Installer, no need to use the Addon Linker, but you still can if you want.
