FENIX A320 control settings/disappointment

I’m curious what you mean by flat linear, are you referring to the first pic with no s curve in place?

I’m in the process of dialling in my Thrustmaster side stick, I find the tiller very sensitive even with a curve in place

Yes I was, With my TM warthog his setting worked well. I will keep them.

As for Rudder/Tiller My TPR have a small curve around 20%, but just increase to suit how yours till they feel not to sensitive.

There is definitely something to do with ground effect affecting the sim that is making things ridiculous on landing. I was glad too see this on a Blackbox711 video a few evenings ago where he landed and the whole thing rolled around like a bath upon rudder application, as if it were still in the air. So it’s not just my setup - this is a serious issue with the sim and the Fenix A320 hasn’t (yet) overcome it. I wonder if the PMDG 737 has? Will wait for the -800 to see.

The issue is likely due to the rudder axis also moving the steering tiller.  If you are not using a separate axis for the tiller, go into the Fenix App/Sim Setting/Controls and make sure 'Ped Disc, is green. When taxiing, you would have to hit the Pedal Disc on the steering tiller so they are separated.  Once on runway for takeoff, click Pedal Disc on the tiller again so it is separated from the rudder axis.

I actually use a separate tiller axis on my joystick so when I twist it it controls the steering tiller.  In my case, I have to turn off the Ped Disc option in the Fenix App.  Hopefully that makes sense but I suspect this is your issue.

According to ASOBO in the last Q&A, wheels are modeled as "points" rather than objects with surface area. This is being changed right now. ASOBO wants the surface area of wheels to be simulated so that there's all sorts of physics and friction being calculated which can't be done currently.

I imagine by SU10 we'll have proper ground handling, but that's all up to ASOBO.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I use the warthog also, and I can't fly this bird for anything.  I've tried all the settings I can think of and I'm all over the place.  I think the warthog is NOT very good for flight sim.  I think it's way too heavy.  DCS maybe, but FS, no.

I do use a separate nosewheel steering axis, Eric, but there could be some conflict there. Is there any button command for the pedal disc or do you just have to press it inside the VC?

Not sure i understand the part of pedal disc. In the FSLA32X i get a green massage when activated during my control check so that the rudder doesnt move the nose wheel. Cant remember the max angle (6degree)? vs 70 on the tiller. Why using pedal disc on taxi? I never do that. ( i have a A320 tiller btw)

update: I got it 😀. For those NOT having a tiller , use pedal disc in VC for nose steering on/off

Thanks

Jeff i think you have a big problem your end. I've use it for 10+ years, Blackbox711, Chewwy and countless others use it. So you have to ask yourself  is it really "NOT very good for flight sim" or you have a problem, a faulty stick your end?

Becasue its one of the best Flight sim sticks out there.

I've also never seen with all the flights Ive done now anything wrong with ground taxing/ landing etc.

Yeah, MSFS still is plagued by a sensitivity issue. It's not game-breaking bad anymore, but it's iconic for MSFS. Planes still seem a bit "mass-less" and floaty (especially on landing) or very sensitive on ground. Sometimes I wish it was a bit more "on rails" (aka stable). 😄

Yeah, I think the sensitivities were just way out of whack.  I think I finally got it dialed in.

Good to hear, it does not matter what others use, if it feels wrong to you keep adding them curves. Hope your sorted now Jeff.

Even with massive s-curves and sensitivity reductions, it’s still poor. I think study-level sim developers should be finding ways to circumvent the terrible ground physics. I’m hoping they find ways of doing this because landings still feel like Compo rolling down the hill in the bath in Last of the Summer Wine.

OK....with the separate nosewheel axis just make sure you have the 'PED Disc' button turned off in the EFB.  If it is on (which it might be by default), you will still be controlling the tiller when using the rudder pedals. Once that is set, you don't have to mess with the button on the tiller in the VC.

Yes ground dynamics is not good at msfs. But In msfs settings you can try to reduce rudder sensivity to -%60-70.%, dead zone to %20, extremity dead zone to %25. With fbw 320 and pmdg 737 seems good. But Not tried with fenix.

thanks this fixed my problem

Yet, the way the Fenix Team has fine tuned the ground physics within the limitations imposed by the base sim is still the best among the addons I have used so far.

For sure better than that of the PMDG 737...
