Are clouds the best ever now? I'm impressed.

Any suggestions on where to install the Steam version of MSFS?  I'm wondering if I did something stupid and installed it to a location that is causing issues.

FYI...I verified files in Steam and no issues.

See above.  Cpt_Piett was referring to the "Official" folder, not the Community folder.

The official folder is in the same folder where the Community folder is. So I gave you the location of the Community folder.

Anyway, I think it's better for you to open a new thread with your problem so we don't continue the off-topic in this thread. We can help you there.

Just took off from Yeager KCRW into some pretty heavy weather. At 10,000' there was an opening between the cloud layers. METAR at KCRW was identical to windy.com. But even though the METAR is correct - do we know that the weather is per the METAR? Anyway, I thought the weather and clouds looked pretty impressive.

Looks amazing.

Will start a new thread after I reinstall.

Cpt...I reset the graphics and did a reboot.  Still no clouds and still at double runway at KDWU.  I think my Steam install may be all jacked up.

Yeah, something's out of whack. Better go for a full reinstall.

Last question...

Looking at this article (https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016125019-Steam-How-to-repair-remove-and-do-a-clean-install-of-Microsoft-Flight-Simulator) it appears the default location for Steam is C:\Program Files (x86)\ Steam.  When I installed Steam on this new Alienware rig I installed it directly into my C drive (C:\ Steam).  For those of you with Steam, could this have been a mistake or is it better to keep it out of Program Files (x86)?  I think I was defaulting to my previous FS9 and FSX location thinking over the years.

You are fine, it can be on any drive, outside of "program files" that's the way my steam install is set.

Ok thanks! Was contemplating whether it would be wise to reinstall Steam as well. Fingers crossed

I have to assume you've got 'Live Weather' enabled in General Options>Data and also you've chosen Live Weather in the weather preflight menu?

There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.

Concerning clouds:  I'm not in the Su10 beta so all I can do is look at pictures and some do look quite good but a lot of the clouds just look flat.  I think they eliminated the reflections that were once there - maybe thats it.  And I still dont care for the color set they've chosen.  Im afraid that most or all of the color improvements people may be seeing right now are simply due to the time of year.

Can you post pictures from when they had the reflections you mentioned?

No idea what you're referencing.  Can you be more specific please? Live Weather works with the exception of clouds only displaying about 30% of the time.  My MSFS install appears to be corrupted.
