Possible solution - AIG & live traffic - 3h 30min without CTD // AIG & live traffic

I just gave this a try and although it does stop the sim from crashing it still doesn't seem to inject the FAIB models 😞  I tried using PSXT and it was giving constant warnings about being unable to inject them into the sim and after a few minutes gave up and stopped working.

Exactly my experience.   Been flipping between 11 and 12 in the same scenarios today and there's no doubt that on my machine DX12 is the way to go now.

What OS are you on?

Good info David, with my 1080 Ti I have that same experience with DX12 and SU 9 (stuttery as hell), I'm not in the Beta 10 though. I'll wait for the final release.

Another great element you'll love in SU10 is the new sharpening tool. It makes a huge difference in graphics quality (at least on my machine) with no hit to performance. This increase in graphics sharpness means you can lower your graphics settings, and they still look high-res. And my graphics card doesn't even have the DLSS capability that many here are additionally impressed by. My computer and graphics card are seven years old, but I run MSFS smoothly at 30fps at 2K resolution after SU10. There is also a vast improvement to on-the-ground performance at the large, handcrafted airports (that used to be frame killers). The clouds and weather look and perform better in SU10 too. Again, this is on a machine that many here consider obsolete. Asobo has done an almost-magical job with MSFS. It takes far more coding skill to make a complex program run smoothly on an old machine than it does to code for a state-of-the-art computer whose speed in execution can mask slipshod spaghetti code.

Is the "sharpening" a new setting in the MSFS graphics settings in SU10? Regards.

Yeah, new slider;

At first, I didn't try the new AMD FidelityFX Sharpening because I thought it worked only on AMD cards. But it works perfectly on my Nvidia 1070 from 2015. And it makes a huge difference.

For AMD only? I remember the Nvidia control panel also has a sharpening feature. Maybe similar functions?

The AMD sharpening is far superior. The Nvidia control panel sharpens everything on the screen. So it's easy to oversharpen and make things worse. By contrast, the AMD sharpening in SU10 selectively sharpens the scene on a pixel-by-pixel basis. So you get a sharpened flight sim that looks smooth and even and realistic.

Good to know! Thanks. Wonder why the slider refers to "AMD" if the function is available for other brands?

Simply because AMD FidelityFX is the brand name for the technology.   I doubt anyone can use it in their game without calling by that name.

Way smoother. All I use now is DX12. With a 3090 using all of its ram it’s a joy.

Confirmed with the same config 🙂
