July 17, 20223 yr Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to edit the live weather, or I should say edit a snapshot of the live weather ? I just would like to keep live weather settings and change the wind direction so I can land on the runway I want. I often did that with Active Sky in XP. Pierre

July 17, 20223 yr Author He he yeah I might do that 😉 I know one dance to avoid CTD and it works ! Well sure it is not live anymore but à least it would be current conditions. Thanks anyway Pierre
July 17, 20223 yr Turn off live weather a set the weather manually to your liking. Edited July 17, 20223 yr by jbdbow1970
July 17, 20223 yr I understand what you're asking, but don't believe there is a way to do what you want unfortunately. Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
July 17, 20223 yr Isn't the entire point about live weather that you NOT get to choose which runway you land on, but that it is dictated by the current conditions?
July 17, 20223 yr Are people purposely trying to misunderstand the guy? It's clear he just wants a snapshot of the current live weather, then essentially turns it into a 'preset' that can be edited. But no, unfortunately that's not possible to my knowledge. July 17, 20223 yr Author Thanks @Sethos and @fppilot, that was the whole point. Nevermind, I understood it is not doable, so I created a preset that look the most like the live weather I had matching QNH and atmosphere. I really wanted to do the RNAV02W in SBRJ but not with 160/11KT 😉 Discussion is closed though Pierre Edited July 17, 20223 yr by Pochi typo
July 17, 20223 yr I've wanted to do this many times, especially with visibility as there's currently (and idiotically) no way to set a specific visibility value; you have to play with aerosol and precip density to get something close to what you want. And yet, live weather can accurately match metar reported vis... but they don't give us a way to specify it. I honestly think the crippled user control of weather is one of the largest glaring errors in the current sim design. Andrew Crowley

Like avionics, the weather injection and ATC/ATIS/AWOS are areas where a full SDK is warranted and woefully overdue! My fear is that Microsoft and Asobo have entered into exclusive contracts with 3rd parties that are subject matter experts, but not simulation experienced. So we may be locked out for existing contractual periods. If that should be the case then some should face a "walk the plank" conclusion as 3rd party sim technology was there at the ready during initial development and appears to have been ignored, and ignored even now. Understood clearly its not possible with live weather in MS this is not Active Sky for P3D or FSX where you could manipulate live weather like you want. I gave him an alternative that's all.
