Those with a Nvidia 3070

Featured Replies

Just curious with those that have a 3070 card. My card has 8gigs of memory and notice with MSFS that its always just about maxed out. Anyone have this issue and if not, then what I can do to lower the amount of VRAM it uses?

I may be wrong (usually am!!) but I thought that maxing out the VRAM is exactly what the card is meant to do <??>. I have a fairly old/mediochre CPU and max all the MSFS settings out (way beyond what the system is really capable of) so I can get nice visuals for screenshots. Frame rates are chronic, but the visuals are superb.

Anyway - on my system, this causes my VRAM to be maxed out quite often (and I can hear the fan speeding up).

3070, only using 3.1 GB with these settings.

LSPU, with Swiss Mesh from marketplace installed.

DLSS antialiasing set to Ultra Quality. Not as much for the GPU to do when the cpu is doing the DLSS.

3060ti running about 60% VRAM here.  No PG and regional airports.

Ultra Performance! With a rendering resolution of only 853x469 it is not surprising that your GPU memory is not maxed out.

Is it really the CPU doing the DLSS? I don't think so.

It looks like Render Scaling has a dramatic effect on VRAM.

What an unbelievable surprising find...

Quite so, it's not supposed to be a revelation, just an illustration, but it does address the subject of the topic

Feel free to continue your attack though, it would be disappointing not to be shot at while trying to help out.

Just replaced my 3070 with a 3080 now the prices have dropped.  Made a big difference to heavy addon photo sceneries for me and 12 GB VRAM is a 50% increase.

That's something that I'm looking into, selling my 3070 and getting an 80

What CPU do you have Bill?  My 3070 and 5600X were quite well balanced, but I'm quite CPU bound now so that will have to be my next upgrade.  I was thinking of upgrading the CPU first, but for £600, I could not let the opportunity to get the 3080 pass.

I used about 7.5gb with my 3070ti in VR, not seen it maxed out yet.

Try it with Sebs Manchester or Glasgow photo sceneries.  John Lovell's Plymouth also maxed out my 3070.  I had to use LOD 1.5 and render scale of 80/90 per cent.

Depends on your rez of course.  The 3070 was fine at 1080 but not so good at 1440.  How people run at 4k is beyond me unless a lot of settings are turned down.
