Just got a new update to SU10 beta 1.27.18.0

Right, so I finished a flight in DX12. Not as smooth sailing.

First I started the sim with reshade (like with the previous flight with DX11). Stuck on initial loading then CTD after a few minutes. Then again but CTD after a few seconds. Then again. So probably my reshade version is incompatible with DX12 (it's not the most recent version).

Without reshade, started from Addons Linker: stuck on initial loading then CTD. Started from MSFS .exe: fine.

Overall experience with DX12 (haven't tried it since they removed the optimisation) is:

  • Strange flickering (light/dark) in cockpit
  • Bad stutters when panning

HWiNFO stats:

  • Max RAM used 15,8 GB
  • Max dedicated VRAM 22,9 GB
  • Average CPU usage ~3%
  • Average GPU core load >60%

Ah yes, almost forgot. Some weird stuff happening on the runway in Hiroshima with DX12:

DX12 on a 3080 for me still has quite a bit of stutters even in default aircraft.

Oh welcome to the party! ... I see you are now on the receiving end of the missing ground tiles phenomena. Hopefully there is more of an impetus to figure out and fix this bug before release.

you are also getting the same artifacts since you have reach the VRAM limit on your 3090 (22.9GB!!!) , I was having the same artifacts on my 3080ti 12GB limit when reaching 11.2GB.

They haven´t fixed yet

Sorry this isn't related to VRAM limits at all.  This bug occurs on initial load well before VRAM limits are called into question.

this bug doesn´t necessarily occurs only at initial load, in fact it can happened at any time, normally when switching views from external to cockpit view and panning around and reaching VRAM limit after spawning all the objects.

BTW it only happens on DX12 and never happened on 3090 owners, I think it is the first time @Cpt_Piett has experienced it.

I also get the same bug with tiles on any airport when running DX12, hope they fix this before releasing it. DX11 seems better for me since the last small update.

I think they will get it sorted as there's plenty of reports about it over on the MSFS Forum in the Beta threads.

Asobo has said they're waiting on an Nvidia patch for DX12

It occurs on initial load to AMD GPU owners as Carl and myself can attest (in DX12 mode obviously) ... I welcomed Piett to the party so to speak because it is the same effect of missing ground textures ..  So it may be the first time he is experiencing it but for AMD users this isn't an out of VRAM issue.. and for someone who has 20GB of VRAM on their gpu i highly doubt it is an  "out of VRAM" issue for Piett either.

In any case ,, the fact that Nvidia cards are now experiencing this hopefully there is added pressure to have this addressed for everyone.

I hope the are not delaying the release of SU10 because of DX12. So many developers are holding off on releasing fixes for their products until SU10 is released, and frankly DX12 for many seems to be a disaster anyway. DX11 works fine.

It was already postponed and there’s no new release date. I’m testing it and is everything ok with dx11.

I think they should just release the way it is and wait for Nvidia to release a fix for dx12.

It is, as I haven’t used DX12 since before they “disabled DX12 memory manager optimization on NVIDIA GPUs” in 1.27.13.0 on Aug 4.

I think so too. Nearly 2 months since the start of the beta on July 13. Clearly DX12 optimization is dragging out. Also IMO there haven’t been much change in the last few updates in terms of DX11. But of course I cannot speak for Xbox and AMD users.
