I was just using the modern media technique, Daily Mail springs to mind. But yeah, if you want to use DX12, and you use Nvidia card, then it would be better to upgrade driver to the latest, so that the new memory optimisations work and you do not get artefacts. Still using DX11, don't worry about it then.....

IF you want DX12, and probably only for those who want DX12 without the visual artifacts issues seen in the first SU10 beta iteration, only those set of folks would need to update the Nvidia driver I'd think. Yeah, that’s how I interpret it as well. Don’t want DX12 then keep your current driver. I’m on a studio driver from June (one of the many steps towards fixing stability issues) and I’m very excited for DX12, so I have to update to the upcoming game ready driver. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

None of this placebo effect, if it ain't broke don't fix it etc etc etc, this is for real. And think about it for the first time ever we actually have a driver synced up with a flight Sim release. I think it's kind of neat. My fingers are crossed that it works. Hopefully the final beta update they mention (coming soon) may address some of these. Yeah, this last little update hasn't been too friendly to me. It'll start crashing at startup and won't let me get to the map screen until I change from dx12 to dx11 or vice versa, delete shaders, and switch airplanes. Then it'll work fine for a couple of flights. Then I get graphic card overheating messages. And the cycle repeats. This current version is definitely not ready for prime time. 1 hour ago, GSalden said: Good news. As I am on the beta (first time for me) : what is the correct way to Opt out of the beta and then update to SU10 and not needed to reinstall MSFS ? Thanks in advance At the end of the beta you'll get another update message, and as long as you point the installer to your current installation folder, you should be okay. I only ran into problems once, and I wasn't paying attention and I got a second install. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440

To be fair, if DirectX 11 is working well for people using it and they value the stability with DirectX 11, and they are aware that they cannot use their old NVidia driver with DirectX 12 in MSFS, I recommend they stay on their current Nvidia driver too. And I am coming from a software development background and that is what I recommend. In general, in software development, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" PS. For me, if DirectX 12 does yield more FPS and makes things smoother, I will update my NVidia driver without hesitation. But that's just me. The drivers are for MSFS to be able to get the best from DX12, targeted at MSFS, so yer, dont bother...your right its not literal if you dont want a driver to work right with SU10 MSFS DX12, yer use any....that will do....or just stick to DX11 and a really old driver. September 9, 20223 yr There's an awful lot of presumption here that a new driver will bring us exactly what we had with Beta 1, or better. On the occasion when I had issues after updating to a current driver it turned out to be the case that the updated driver did not apply to my somewhat older GPU, and that was not clearly indicated. So a rollback got me back to where I needed to be, and stay. Now I am on a current 12 gb 3080 and do not expect any issues. I would not be jumping all over a new driver if still using my 1070 TI without some careful reading. And a bit of Alphonse act... September 9, 20223 yr DX11 is working beautifully for me, so I shall wait for others to update their Nvidia drivers first. When it comes to going over the top, I'm always the last one out of the trench. 😉 Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Those people may not really care about the extra FPS that DirecxtX 12 provides, they just want stability. I'm okay with the additional FPS from DirectX 12 so I'm willing to take a risk on less stability, if DirectX 12 is less stable (well, with how rushed the NVidia driver is, it will undergo less testing, so it may be less stable for DirectX 12). I guess it depends on what you value. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

September 9, 20223 yr Either the devs are confident they have a decent DX12 implementation within reach. Or the release date is being pushed through anyway. I hope it’s the former. Either way, it goes without saying that we won’t be able to beta test DX12 in its “2.0” implementation. So it seems a somewhat risky move.
