REX AccuSeason Optimized for SU10

I have my own custom directory on a separate SSD that I put all my 3rd party stuff into and then use Addon Linker (AOL) to point it to the main MSFS Community folder. In that custom directory I have 8 or so folders to separate out types of 3rd party content. Will this program work with the automated feature if I put it in a folder in this directory and link it to MSFS with AOL? @MikeT707

Certainly seems to be working for me like that.

This is looking very nice!  I have purchased a lot of REX software but nothing recently.  My critically important to me question:  is there any significant performance burden over default or Bijan's seasons?  I've recently obtain Nirvana for smooth stutter-free flight after a lot of troubleshooting and effort and don't want anything to mess with that.  But yes, looking very nice!

Hi Noel and thanks for the question about performance. When SU10 was in Beta, it was reported on the MSFS forum that there were performance issues related to Bijan's product, as well as AccuSeason. With this being the case, REX invested 6-7 full time weeks optimizing AccuSeason, so performance is quite good. For me personally, that was a very long 6-7 weeks to optimize things, but it was worth it for the AccuSeason customers.

Wow that's unfortunate at best to have to do that much work to adapt to a new SU!  Geez!  Well, I'll give it a whirl and see it if does better than Bijan's product which I believe has reintroduced a performance issue.  I've had perfect flight for maybe 12 flights in a row after a lot of troubleshooting (not 6-7 weeks though!) the reinstalled Bijans and had the first instances of less than perfect animation.

Noel, I just wanted to add my two cents, been using AccuSeason for many months now and I’ve never had any issues with it. I’ve been running it with with SU10 (final release, I took a break during the beta) and SU11 beta and I haven’t noticed any performance impact. I don’t think it will ruin your Nirvana.

One very minor suggestion for this wonderful program. And it's just a suggestion the product currently as is I'm getting more than my money's worth and that's pretty rare with payware.

I adore the automation. In a way though it's only partial automation. A setting to automate in the background would be the chefs kiss to this program so if I'm using the PC at midnight (or whatever time I set), watching a movie, playing a game, etc etc, I will not be interrupted with the app opening and updating the season.

I get it has times etc. Either way I still have to "finish" and close the program when the automation is finished.

Perhaps some sort of keep in systray option so the program can stay running, but eliminate the interface having to appear to do the automation.

You can edit the events that trigger the process in Windows Task Scheduler.  I set mine to start at Logon of Any User instead of at a time you set within Accuseason's automation setup.  After Windows boots to the desktop the process opens and runs, then you turn it off when complete.  At least it won't interrupt anything and you will be reminded it's being done. There is an option in Task Scheduler to run at Startup, which I wonder if it really runs or not because you don't see anything and I'm guessing it's not running but I don't know at the moment.

I thought automation worked in the background without the main program opening up?

It opens the program, birds chirping and all. Whenever I hear the birds I know it's midnight. It doesn't seem to negatively affect MSFS if it's open at the time though.

Aahh I see, I don't ever play at midnight so I'm hoping it automates when I turn on my PC the next day then, but I never get the program opening at startup hence my thinking that it does it in the background? Or is that not how it works? 🤔

when you set up automation you need to set a time for it to happen, mine does it at 7pm local as I am usually at work, really have seen a difference here in the Uk as we have transition from summer to autumn...

Is there a way to turn off these noisy birds at start-up?

I think I'll give this add-on a go, judging from all the great reviews.

Yes.. There actually is.

Go into the folder where Accuseasons is installed. This may vary on where you bought it from.

Right click on the program in your Start Menu.

Click "Open File Location"

Browser to  the "files" folder  then browser to "sounds" folder.

Delete  the sound file "rex_landscapes"..

I assume any time Accuseasons is updated this file will be replaced but removing it does the trick.

Hi styckx, and I am really glad to hear you are enjoying the product. Having functionality to have the automation run in the background or an option to mute the chirping birds is on our backlog. We have just had a ton of things ahead of that, but it will happen sometime. Thanks for the comment. 🙂

It's fine Mike. Seriously. I know this genre can be a nitpicky bunch over the silliest things and beat dead horses, until they reincarnate and then beat them again. Hence I prefaced my comment by giving your product nothing but accolades. As you see above, we find ways around things in unconventional ways until the product catches up.
