UK Coastline Morphing Fix

Featured Replies

Can anyone offer some feedback about this product from Taburet that is on the SimMarket site? I'm a little wary after having bought their Norway mesh, which was a complete waste of money. So this is being sold as:   The function of this mod is to fix morphing effects visible along coastlines. Coastlines have been reshaped using high res data and adapted to avoid terrain morphing. The mod do not alter terrain mesh other than those along the coastlines. Negligible frame rates impact.   Can anyone offer some feedback, thanks fellas.

Don't own it, though I think your previous purchase from them should guide your thoughts on their work.

To help you reach a decision, perhaps also read the 1* critiques on Simmarket on a number of their products.

Stay away. Purely trying to cash in on any means necessary with as little effort as possible. Shovelware.

As said before, stay away from Taburet. I have tried different add-on types from him, either they are too expensive or are low quality, often both.

The only dev who has managed to almost completely eliminate morphing is Orbx as far as I know (New Zealand mesh). I don’t know how they do it but it’s not just about resolution. See for example Switzerland, which has excellent mesh, but is still a morphing nightmare. I don‘t own Taburet‘s mesh but I‘d be surprised if they had found a way to fix morphing to be honest.

There is a thread on the official forum on this product with people commenting on it who actually own it. You may want to have a look at that before deciding if it's worth buying or not.

I didn't find the thread. I did however buy UK COASTLINES MORPHING EFFECTS FIX and UK IRELAND COASTLINES TREES CLEARING (€7.99 each). Just my 2 cents, but I think the coastline looks great with these installed. This is from UK south coast:

Thats the package they were discussing on the o-forum. I agree, it looks good, and the developer has updated it recently too.

I have a few of these, they aren't perfect, but they are better.  I don't think you guys realize how much work goes into these coastline fixes.  I fixed a few lakes in Arizona and it took a few hours to get right.  I can't imagine how much work goes into the coastline of England.

Thanks for the link. Reading through it right now and there’s a constructive discussion where the dev is actively involved.

Yes no doubt this can be excruciatingly time-consuming when hand-editing is required. The dev has updated his product and seems keen to continue to do this based on user input.

Not sure why some Avsim users are so keen to jump in to threads and dump a lot of negativity, this happens all the time over here…

I bought it but I don't like it and prefer the default morphing. It's rounds off the top of cliffs and looks very unrealistic. Beachy Head is better by default once it loads in.

Hmm, some contradictory opinions here. I think for the price I will give it a shot. Thanks for all the feedback fellas, appreciated.
