to go back to more primitive and deprecated antialiasing.

So you prefer very blurred ghosting to crooked lines?

There is a cheap and easy way to add that to any game:

I don't have any blurred ghosting and not many crooked lines in MSFS. I'm just hoping for a similar result in XP-12, dude.

ohhhh, so that's what this is about...

Sorry I thought you were talking about this years blockblusters not old games from a few years ago most people have already forgotten about.

So i checked, and all I could find was.

Pretty sure Laminar have no plans to replicate that experience.

At least I hope not.

But if that is what makes you happy you seem to be covered already?

XP-12 doesn't support TAA? And no plans to support DLSS+RT? Heh. That ain't gonna fly very far, so to speak.

Precisely. DLSS is a "dead man walking". It's a closed-source dead end. Might take another decade to die like Gsync has been dying, but that end will come. Look at how many Freesync monitors are available now vs Gsync. There's no comparison.

DLSS 3 isn't even upscaling. It's making fake frames between the real ones. That trick has been used on TVs for a very long time now.

LR might do DLSS in the future, but that infrastructure will happen to support FSR2+. DLSS will be a side note.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

Don't even bother, the fact that the entire industry and every game and simulator under the sun uses TAA, because it's simply the superior choice right now, won't convince him. We need to deal with aliasing and shimmering galore until our eyes bleed, that's the optimal experience.

Slight reminder that X-Plane covers three platforms and three GPU vendors (or two, don't know how broken Intel support is ATM), so general solutions are preferable to isolated ones that make things better for group A but neglect group B. Another contributing factor is that implementing closed source stuff like DLSS (unlike FSR) is a no-go for Laminar.

YOU WANNA TAKE THIS OUTSIDE, PAL???? I'M READY TO RUMBLE, WOOOO!!!1

I kid, I kid. I'm still waiting for the mods to FINALLY make a forum called "The Arena" where people can argue and I can watch.

Anyway, Beta 6 is out and I have little-to-no knowledge about AA, V/Gsync, or any of the other black magic that goes on. However, I am watching to see how Xplane 12 looks when it's in its final, stable state. I doubt I'll have time for multiple sims, but certainly having clean lines will be a minor, but important issue.

Correct. But what shall I do if I have no XP11 installed on my main flightsim PC?

The annoying point (at least for me) is that all these problems apparently only exists in the Linux version with non-Intel or non-Nvidia hardware and LR seems not to care too much. For very good reasons (again in my humble opinion) I simply do not want MS or Apple and those hardware. That is why I bought XP for Linux.

You do seem to continue missing the fact XP12 is an early release so problems are to be expected.  Why don't you install XP11 for those occasions you want a stable sim?

I'm a little confused with this thread.  The only shimmering I see in XP12 is with the trees, but I'm sure I read LR have said this will be fixed - something to do with the lighting pipeline.  Apart from that, XP12 looks sharp and smooth to me.

I don't get it. Why is it a no go? Xplane is closed source too. Having options is better than not having the options.

Well believe or not VR is revolutionize the flight simulator experience much in the same way as what 3D cockpits did for the 2D monitor.

I have used VR for a couple of years but not in flight sims because nothing external can be used - foreflight/Garmin Pilot for example.

This is one thing that varjo aero has been working on.

passthrough for the cockpit controls (shows what the cameras see) full VR for everything else.

windows only though last time I checked so I cant try it for now.

Yeah apps can be a bit tricky when dealing with VR,  but I have been using a plugin "moveVR" to be able to get certain windows on the desktop including moving the desktop within VR if an app window is not support. He happen to demo Foreflight in this stream.

Here is a link to youtube demo from a live stream.
