Favorite X Plane 11/12 Helicopter?

Featured Replies

What is your favorite X Plane 11/12 Helicopter? This can be one that you enjoyed from XP11 and is coming soon to XP12.

I am more interested in study level helicopters with the most detail. Payware is fine. So far for freeware I have found OH-58D Kiowa Warrior the best freeware for for XP12. Change my mind.

  • If you're just starting out, don't spend money right away until you've decided that you want to fly helicopters more often. To that end, try freeware first. Maybe even with a bit of a complexity

My thoughts exactly when it was XP11/MSFS, but I really can't stand being in MSFS now XP12 is available.  I maintain MSFS on my system and load it up after each update, yet I never last more than five

Dreamfoil's Bell 407 is still the gold standard for X-Plane helicopters, in my opinion

The old BK-117....simply the best...IMO.

The SA315B Lama, but also the EC135.

Hardware Intel i5 12600k OC5,2 GHz, Gigabyte Z690 UD, Gigabyte RTX 4070TI Gaming OC, Corsair Vegeance RGB 32GB Kit CL16

I fly both CowanSim B206 L3 and JRX Bo105 with Helicopter Rescue Mission, They both great, but slightly heavy on FPS even compare to complex airliner.

2 Free helo I also use is HSF & Rotorsim EC135  and  AS365 N2 Dauphin. The EC135 somehow easy to enter LTE in my flight style and AS365's 4 axis AP sometimes make jerk on collective when engaging and disengaging..

I think its probably worth noting that, absolutely nothing can compete with any helicopter ever made for X-Plane though, so lets just list them all, even the default S76 is pretty decent 😛

My favorite has been the X-Trident Bell 412. I like medium weight twin engine helicopters, they're a little more forgiving to fly than the twitchier light helicopters, and twins like this have the more advanced autopilot systems. It also has some fun operational modes like floats, searchlight, sling ops, firefighting water dumps. The default 76 uses some of the same systems features, I'm not sure if that's carried over in XP12.

Works in XP12, but has a dataref warning on load...

Is this baiting for some type of comparison war that usually derail threads like this? I disagree and some others may as well, but you can start another thread for that topic doomed for a lock down.

Yes, this is my goto Heli since I had issues with the BK-117 working with later versions of XP.

Just a simple observation that even the most basic thrown together heli in XP by someone who has never actually sat in a cockpit far exceeds anything you can get anywhere else. There really are no other options? FSX? good grief no.

Probably a more interesting focused question is "whats you favourite helicopter and why"

for me Im torn between

and the Gazelle SA341, for differing reasons.

But in terms of the op question its really no different than asking whats your favourite car/bike or plane.

Really?!? X-Plane.org, i.e. the usual place, XP11 aircraft downloads, helicopters section. You should know that since you haven't been here since yesterday.
