Tragic loss of control of a Tesla in China.

In China, the loss of control of a Tesla caused two deaths and three injuries.

The driver is 55 years old who is alive, he had been driving this model for more than a year and stated that when he tried to brake the car he was
started to accelerate, up to 200 km / h, for about 2 km. him till he has crashing.

Here's the thing. When a gas car catches fire, as they do all the time, something like 174,000 of then each year, just in the US, the media goes bonkers and we see it reported everywhere. While the media totally ignores the fact that electric cars are ten time less likely to catch fire that petrol powered cars.

Same with technical issues that "allegedly" result in an accident. The media ignores the multitude of petrol powered cars that have technical issues and cause an accident. 

In this case the driver "claimed" he had an issue with the brake pedal. Tesla are assisting with the investigation. No doubt the truth will be revealed, and it may not be what is claimed.

I have seen plenty of YouTube videos where drivers accelerate uncontrollably, and smash into other vehicles/walls/supermarket windows. The vast majority of those were almost certainly due to pilot error, and none of them were electric vehicles.

Yeah, there are numerous videos, usually automatic transmission, or a duel clutch powerful car. Most likely the accelerator is mistaken for the brake. Sounds unlikely but it happens a lot. A family friend did it in an auto and hit a car in front. Her father did the same thing on her drive and went straight across the road onto the drive opposite. 

Often you will see people who don't know how to handle a powerful car like a Lambo or Ferrari, and they show off by zooming away, and all that power to the rear wheel drive is a disaster. 

 

1:25 prime example. And 2:01, which was an older more experienced driver, should have known better. 

3:52 is just idiotic.

Didn't Toyota have some uncommanded acceleration issues some years ago (back when Tesla was only the name of a Serbian scientist)? I remember reading something about that in the news.

Given the company had issues before it was acquired, vastly overstaffed one of them, any takeover would have resulted in the same.

It wasn't made available because it was running like a Swiss watch

That was probably some 10 years ago.  It was determined that in at least some of the cases of uncontrolled acceleration it was due to the floor mats not being properly secured to the floor pan and were sliding forward and binding against the accelerator pedal.  Some were also found to be a case of the driver simply mashing the accelerator pedal and thinking they were pressing the brake pedal.

Yes, that's what I mentioned earlier. Seems to be not uncommon.

I think Audi had some issues as well.

Not to mention Ford Fiesta and the electric power steering failure. Wheel ends up impossible to move. Yikes!

I worked for over 30 years at what was, at the time, the largest company in the world. I've seen many "Elons". And they have all been losers. There is no way that Musk can treat the Twitter folks in the manner he has chosen. Unless he changes tactics (which I doubt he can) he has indeed put the torch to a $44 billion fiasco. Resizing a company is one thing, approaching it the way Musk has is another. I guarantee you, complete failure is on the horizon. The only question is when...not if.
