makes us look disingenuous and tribal.

You were doing really good until you got to the above name calling. My comments are clearly about the hobby in general I certainly am aware that even in Prepar3d there are folks landing 747s on Navy ships and flying them into buildings. It might be that you are being a bit over sensitive? I don't know for sure but I gave your post an "Up Vote" anyway.

You can keep what you have no forced upgrade, you can have both for the cost of a PC game your choice, remember users call for moving on from old code for years.

I keep 5.3 on my drive for those days when MSFS is down. Rare, but I will keep it for that reason alone. I dont fly P3d any more. It looks garishly primitive compared to the current iteration of MSFS. My opinion. YMMV. TANSTAAFL

MSFS started from ground zero. If LM break from MS code, they can be free of the commercial licence restrictions. And advance the sim faster for future hardware and make better use if today's tech.

No my friend, name calling would be if I said that you were being tribal, I merely stated that calling the other sim a toy would make us (the P3D users) look tribal to those outside of the Prepar3d group. I apologize if there was any confusion there. Thank you for the upvote by the way, hope everything is good on your end.

So in even more interesting developments Blackshark.ai which is responsible for the 3D reconstruction technology in MSFS for those who don't know just and I mean literally just announced the entire Globe Plugin which unlocks the SYNTH3D replica of the entire earth is now available to anyone on the Unreal Engine Marketplace...

So in theory LM using the unreal engine has access to the same global data as Asobo/MSFS.

https://blackshark.ai/blackshark-ai-launches-globe-plugin-for-unreal-engine-making-the-whole-world-available-in-3d-to-anyone/

Quote

While until now the company was offering custom integrations of its technology to mostly large clients and partners, the Globe Plugin for UE5 now gives the whole world into anyone’s hands. At its core, the Globe Plugin streams blackshark.ai’s SYNTH3D data in different LODs and contains 3D terrain, ground textures, buildings, infrastructure, and vegetation in an accurate, realistic, geo-typical, and regional-specific manner. The data for the 3D reconstruction is derived from Maxar’s Vivid global satellite imagery basemap and includes 1.5 billion buildings and over 30 million square meters of vegetation coverage. Buildings are generated at runtime carrying metadata, and building material attributes make it ready for physical simulation. Easy combination, conflation, and replacement with a user’s own georeferenced data is possible too. The blackshark.ai Airport Generator turns any airport ground charts globally into accurate 3D airport models, including runways, towers, markings, and light systems, introducing unprecedented opportunities for sensor simulation and officially accredited pilot training.

Check out a multi-million dollar REAL Flight Simulator....if you think P3d looks primitive!  Functionality is far more important than eye candy.

Agreed and functionality AND eye candy exists in MSFS 2020 in 2022 so why fly anything else, even a level-d sim LoL!

Because those are Procedural trainers.  The emphasis is on the physical layout of the cockpit as well as the overall graphical immersion.  They need to know where to look, what to grab, where the handles are without having the time to familiarize themselves with those things on a real flight deck.  That's why ANY certified flight training device is a critical combination of Hardware and Software together.    Certified Flight Training Equipment has been around since WWI and the graphics were pretty poor I heard....

Why come and comment on the topic of an "ugly and outdated" simulator instead of flying the beautiful MSFS?

Well this too is an interesting development. I must say I’m scratching my head a bit. Could someone answer this question. Why would black shark.AI just be giving this data away to anyone who wants it. What’s in this for them and how will they make their money off of this.

blackshark.ai either agreed a juicy upfront lump sum contract with Epic Games, or receive a fixed fee every time the plugin is downloaded in UE5, or are entitled to a certain percentage of UE5 sales revenue.

It's a win-win situation. Both companies make more sales now, than otherwise would have been achieved if the synergy didn't exist.
