I used to use RC4 back in FS9, don't know why I stopped using it but I'll be looking for it when I get home from work.

It works with v5.3?

Indeed it does. If you need a Windows 7 dll just let me know. Check the RC forum pinned topic on how to register a dll.

Does it equal the now free Radar Contact v4? 😉 I already know the answer. 😉

I indeed tested Radar Contact still during FSX times, circa 2007 🙂  but I honestly don't recall how it was 😕

Will have to give it a new go 🙂

Flightsimming since 1992

I tend to agree with shivers9. The statement from LM quoted in the video that "we have no plans to make major architectural changes that would undermine third party add on capability with the platform" seems to confirm this -- as adopting unreal and Blackshark would certainly undermine existing products. More likely P3D will continue to evolve on its current trajectory while LM develops a separate training and simulation platform using Unreal. Whether these two products will advance together, or it is LMs long-term vision to gradually transition P3D customers to a new platform, is unknown. Regardless, I would not expect any dramatic, rapid advancements. But I could be wrong.

It was nice to see LM acknowledge the flight sim community and I am quite interesting to see how it continues to contribute to flight simulation in general.

Can we just get back to the point here? I am not interested comparing the two platforms. If I was, I would look up one of the millions of YouTube videos. Sorry if it sounds harsh but I am just tired of seeing yet another exciting forum post (with great inputs in the beginning) going to waste because of comparisons on whose toy is better. They are both great, but I am here for P3D.

Maybe I am the only one… but I am very interested on what the future brings. There is definitely life in flight simulators which we could have not said back in FSX (when future was very unsure and the platform was THE limiting factor). Now it’s only the imagination!

Whom are you talking about? Me? I should be banned for responding to repeated misstatements of fact on this forum about the lack of a replay system? The posts were wrong. It's not that big a deal. We're all wrong sometimes. You guys brought up the MSFS replay yourselves -- again and again and again. I bet I've read a dozen or more posts in the past few months saying there isn't a replay system. But there is a replay system. I'm sorry, but there is a replay system. So if I understand your position: members of the P3D forum should be allowed to repeatedly make blatantly erroneous statements of fact about another sim, and those incorrect statements must go unchallenged, and those who point out your factual mistakes are trolls. Keep in mind, also, that this "dispute" is not one of opinion, such as "the coloration is better on this sim or that sim." The posts about the lack of replay were factually, provably wrong. Again, check out the many YouTube videos about how to use the "nonexistent" replay system. To make everyone happy, I will voluntarily remove myself, effective immediately and permanently, from the P3D forum. I came here because I was excited to learn more about the Unreal Engine, but never mind.

If you have an issue with a post you should report it with your reasons why. No one knows who you are referring to. A certain amount of comparison with other sims is inevitable but not all is trolling.

Just so you know, I did try to report Dave’s post but I must confess that I may have done it incorrectly. Lol I dont think in the 15 years or more I have been here that I have ever tried to report a post.

In reguards to your instruction as a Mod then I am fine with your ruling that a certain amount of comparison with other sims is fine. I will use that as my guidance as I make those comparisons in the future.

It’s reasonable to make a comparison with ANY sim providing it’s objective and not done as a wind-up. Saying something exists in product A but not B being an example rather than “A is rubbish compared to B” which is an opinion and subjective of course.

Staying on-topic also helps your case. 😉

Not necessary. Dust ups like this occur regularly these days.

I did look through the pages but I may have missed it - Did anyone post the quote HeliSimmer got from LM about this?

Lockheed Martin is a proven leader in the simulation and training market. We match leading technologies with customer requirements, and the Unreal Engine partnership forms a foundational capability for many of the training and simulation customers we serve. Prepar3D has over a decade of continuous development and improvements supported by a robust third party ecosystem that will continue into the future.

We carefully consider the impacts on all product stakeholders when road mapping our products, and we have no plans to make major architectural changes that would undermine existing third party add-on compatibility with the platform. We are so appreciative of the flight sim community for the innovation, feedback and on-going dialogue to continue increasing capability and training realism.
