January 6, 20233 yr About the digs at other devs, the TFDi one, I wouldn't blame anyone for it. It's just objective. At this point, QW's stubborn silence is so ridiculous that anyone's entitled to have a laugh at it. How long has it been, over a year? But again, I don't expect developers to be good communicators. In my experience, most are not. If they deliver a good product, I don't care all that much if they're gonna have awkward moments when they meet each other at some event. 😂 28 minutes ago, Nixoq said: I'm talking about airliners specifically given the E-Jet is one and I disagree as the number of good airliners is still very low. Obviously, MSFS is far more profitable than other simulators, but we've only had few attempts at a decent E-Jet, none of which ended up being quality, and no attempts at many other aircraft types at all. It's probably more likely to change now with MSFS than it ever was in the past, but I'm not so sure that someone will step in. At this point, we have plenty of quality airliners for the simulator. Fenix, 3 models from PMDG (I'm not counting the DC6 albeit it's technically an airliner), Leonardo, A310, BAE. The CRJ isn't what I'd consider "high level" but it's still very enjoyable at this point. And we're not even counting the freeware offering which is very good and consistently improving. For a completely new simulator 2.5 years in, this kind of choice is historically unprecedented. I wold go out on a limb and say it's luxurious. Previous recent sims were pretty much commercial flops (I know this gets some panties in a twist, but in the grand scheme of things, it's just how it is) unable to sustain a lively third-party industry, with developers having pretty much to scrape by. MSFS is certainly different. We can pretty much expect every available "hole" in the market of popular aircraft to be filled simply because of the money dangling in front of enterprising devs. This is a market capable to easily accommodate 2-3 different models of the same popular airliner, so I seriously doubt that the presence of this Embraer will discourage anyone, especially if it fails to deliver. I know for a fact that Ouroboros isn't one bit phased. Edited January 6, 20233 yr by Abriael Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com

I know for a fact that Ouroboros isn't one bit phased. I fully agree with the criticism of TFDi's early access scheme and I'll never understand why some developers can't even give a periodic sign that they're still alive. But developers shouldn't publicly engage in the usual community-driven hostility as far as I'm concerned. I count 6 airliners (I'm counting the 737 as one), which happens to be just one more than a handful, out of which 3 are niche aircraft. That's not to say they aren't popular, but they're far from what most people want (aircraft they see at their airports today). This is indeed remarkable given how young MSFS still is and obviously it will grow. I'm not as optimistic as you however that all the holes will be filled and if they are, that they will be filled with high quality aircraft. I'm hoping that the popularity of MSFS will lead more developers to go to such lengths as to produce high quality aircraft á la Fenix or PMDG, but I'm starting to think many may just settle on the CRJ level. We'll see.

January 7, 20233 yr Are we seriously getting up in arms because streamers won't get permanent free access to an unfinished product? Even assuming that's accurate, because at times these expirations are simply oversights and get corrected (it isn't rare with review copies). I understand that some are used to the idea of media privilege and think that's a holy principle from the heavens that streamers and youtubers (or media in general) should be just handed free product without limitations all the time, but unlimited preview copies aren't the norm in the wider gaming industry. It's actually the opposite. You get access for the time of the preview (which could be mere hours, a month is absolutely luxurious), and then you get access again when the developer is ready for the next round of previews, or for reviews when the product is finished. As someone who has written previews professionally in the gaming industry for over two decades, preview copies are a work tool, not a privilege or a gift. Once your work is done, whether you retain access to the product or not is irrelevant. Personally, my "yikes" goes to thinking developers are somehow bad for (possibly) deciding to limit a media preview window of their unfinished product. It feels like someone's been blinded by media privilege. Edited January 7, 20233 yr by Abriael Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com

With less problematic addons people would not care at all, but in a couple of weeks we had : - Massive hype from great video showing an high end plane looking finished, ready to fly. - Early access annoncement, with 2/3 of the plane still work in progress, the hard part. - No indication of delay in the roadmap, might take years or might be far away from the description on the main webpage. - Preview for the streamer, on a version that should not have been release, so it's not a hit. - And even, if the date limit was something planned in advance, it really look like it's been implemented to kick off "bad" reviewer. They really messed up the launch of their product

That's a massive reach and it feels that some simply want to find something else to cry foul about. If that was the case, the preview copy wouldn't expire in three weeks. Quote "You bad youtuber! How do you dare trash my plane! I'm gonna kick you... in three weeks! Now wait for it..." It really doesn't have that vengeful ring to it. 😂 There's literally nothing strange, wrong, or even unusual with media not retaining permanent access to incomplete preview product. Quite sure they don't do that to "punish" bad reviewer, and it was most likely a decision taken quite some time ago. But with everything happening, it's "looks" like they are fed up with reviewer talking not in the best way about their product. If they can manage to communicate on that and as a gesture of good will, extend the time limit, but also release some meaningful big updates quickly, the situation will improve, if not they will continue on the bad start
