December 28, 20223 yr With the abundance of retired commercial aircraft and the prices of houses these days, living in a plane may be very cost effective, especially since they're already insulated etc. I'd love to live in a plane, its just the logistics of getting such a structure onto your property which may be the deciding factor.
December 28, 20223 yr It cost the guy $125,000, including having the plane disassembled, shipped from Greece to Oregon, and reassembled--it last belonged to Olympic Airlines, and its claim on history was that it was used to fly Aristotle Onassis' body from France back to Greece for burial in 1975. Planes may be insulated, but not very well (mostly due to weight considerations), as any crewdog that's spent time waiting for an AC cart on a hot ramp can attest. I'd bet that he had to do a lot of work to make it liveable. And, Dude! Get that thing into the wash rack, would ya??!! He displayed the interior of a wide-body airliner, which the 727 decidedly is not... In addition, she (the owner) is a bit confused as she compared her 727 with the former President's aircraft, which is definitely not at all similar. Still, all in all her renovations are absolutely beautiful! Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
