A Happy Surprise for my Birthday!

Today is my 74th birthday. While noodling around, I just Binged around and discovered this group photo of the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps from 1950 of the Harvey Seeds Post 29, Miami, Florida.

Much to my absolute delight, my late father appears in the photo! He is middle of the bottom row. William L. Leaming. He played a tenor snare drum with the band from 1946 to 1955. The group won the National Competition four years in a row, if I recall correctly.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Happy Birthday Bill! Mine is today but I'm 86 not 74. Let's both have a good time appropriate to our age!  🙂

Well Happy Birthday to you Vic! I treated myself to a good dinner for my birthday: chicken and dumplings, followed by 1/4th slice of peach pie with whipped cream topping. 😁

Thank you for the kind wishes, Noel! 🤓

I had my eyes examined on the 20th for visual field, followed by a full detailed exam. The doctor said that both my eyes' cataracts have progressed to the point where she highly recommends that they be removed. She is going to arrange for a surgeon in Arkadelphia, AR to schedule appointments for my operations.

Fr Bill, cataract surgery is a piece of cake.  Nothing to it.  I had both eyes done, a week apart, a few years ago.  The only bad thing about it was my wife had to drive me home afterwards and she totaled the car.  I hate riding with her.  Zero situational awareness.

My right eye has them developing and I will have to have that eye done in the near future.
