Maddog update February 14

Featured Replies

The Maddog team have just released an update:

https://www.flythemaddog.com/forum/index.php?/topic/14525-fly-the-maddog-x-msfs2020-edition-new-installer/

The changelog is here:

https://www.flythemaddog.com/forum/index.php?/topic/14523-new-msfs2020-version-next-week/

The update includes a number of enhancements to the EFB, the addition of a Turnaround Mode and Realistic Mode (which means that aircraft aging is tracked per airframe), and improvements to the flare behavior. I'm particularly interested in the latter, because previously the flare behavior has always been something that bugged me about this aircraft; you would need to push the yoke forward in the flare to prevent the aircraft from ballooning.

I haven't tried out the update yet, but I plan to do so tonight.

Nice finally persistant state saving!

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Interesting changelog and feature list.  I am considering this, as I love the MD-80 series.  Are the general engine sounds any better since launch?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I can recommend the sounds from FTsim+

For me it completely changed the aircraft, adding those sounds. To sit in the cabin, looking out on the wing, then advancing the throttle with those sounds are just pure awesomeness!

Before I installed those sounds i barely touched the aircraft. With the sounds, its one of my favourite to fly!

I pay about £4 pm to FtSim ( Patreon) and it makes a big difference.in the immersion. There are numerous Wwise sound files for most of the MSFS Airlinerss. Also for XPlane FMod.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

Is the installation straightforward?  I seem to recall needing to edit a bunch of stuff when last tried their sounds.

Yeah its quite easy. Just follow a few steps in the read me-file.

You need to "re-install" the ftsim+ sounds after each update though, But its a quick process!

Yes the FTsim sounds are good.  I never knew they did them for the MD-80.  I have the C182, and C208 sounds and they transform the aircraft for sure.
I have others such as the Hornet and F-35, but I haven't tried them yet.  For the price of the subscription they are excellent value, and they get updated quite regularly.

PS.  Just remembered I have the Twin Otter sounds as well.  Much better than Aerosoft's default.

I've tried to instal them but it's beyond me. You have to hack files which is no good. Especially as they cost money. Why on earth don't they just either supply a suitably hacked file without me having to instal some Python thingy?

I had a hard time getting my head around the process and finding the correct files to edit, but if you just edit the layout.json file manually its simple.

I made a few tweaks to how the sounds are heard in the interior by removing the engine sounds altogether. I feel its more realistic that way as you don't hear the engines all the way up front, especially with the equipment cooling fans etc.

Not true. For the MD-82 all you need to do is drop a folder and file into your main AC directory. Then run the python script (file) and you’re finished. 30 seconds tops.

Thanks, that sounds more simple than what I looked at before.  Will give it a shot.

Man I was really hoping they'd do something with the sounds as well.  For 80USD why would I have to go somewhere else to buy sounds for this bird....just my 2c.

Disregard, found my answer.
