FTSim Sounds

Featured Replies

Does anyone use these sound replacement packages for the PMDG and/or the Neo?  In my opinion the sounds which come with these aircraft are really good so haven't used any other replacements.  I am using their sound set for the A330-900 NEO though.

I think the sounds from the PMDG are fine and I believe they were recorded from the actual aircraft, so that is pretty hard to beat.

I have replaced all the PMDG 737  sounds with FTSim's versions. I prefer them... also pretty simple to do compared to some others.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

PMDG, A32NX, and the newly updated A330-900 NEO all have superior sounds that already come with the aircraft.  I do maintain a monthly subscription to FTSim because they produce very good sound packages for many other aircraft I enjoy.

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

Leaving aside their absurdely stupid pricing model (Patreon), I bought their soundset for the default Longitude, which didn't work anymore after the AAU1 upgrade, tried to contact the developer via their discord channel. No reply.

I have their sounds for the Leonardo Maddog, like them a lot!

$10 a month for some sounds..They have to be joking.

Most of their sounds are just cut together from youtube videos (which doesn't necessary mean they are bad), while the likes of PMDG recorded them invidiually in the cockpit of the real aircraft.
The only useful thing are the sounds for the Maddog, because Leonardo for some reason decided to simulate a headset-on sound atmosphere, meaning that you literally hear nothing of the rear mounted engines or of wind.
The rest is really neither more realistic neither higher quality, though personal preference matters of course. The pricing model is absurd, I agree.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

it's 2 or 3 a month.  And you can sign up, download everything, then cancel.  So a deal if you look at it like that.

Leonardo maddog sounds are really bad.  But not hearing the engines in the cockpit is a real life thing in the MD-80.  They are too far back to hear.  Heck you could barely hear them even when riding in first class.

Their crj sounds are also a big improvement.

You do hear them on takeoff. It's not loud as in the 737 or A320, but you do hear them. Check this out for example:

I would say judging by that video posted above Leonardo is pretty spot on with sounds  (quiet) from the cockpit, trim sounds need work though. Too bad not good immersion for flight sim and why a sound pack is  needed, ha ha.

correct error

The FTSim exterior maddog sounds are a nice improvement too.

In my experience flying probably 100 flights in delta md-88 first class, you don’t hear the engines except when the airplane was very empty.

though having said that I do prefer to hear the engines in my sim. Even if not realistic.

Agree there.  I flew it for the first time yesterday since the update and the sounds are perfect.

Separately, and nothing to do with previous comment, I would say that because we are flying our computers, that sound cues are critically important for a true sense of immersion.  Even if they are slightly exaggerated from the cockpit.
