June 24, 20232 yr I'm cautiously optimistic about this version, but have several unanswered questions.... 1) Will this new atmospheric model be able to show global weather and not just localized weather (like with truesky enabled in v5)? Everything in the trailer appears to be the same weather pattern out to the horizon (maybe this is just because they were using weather themes, but this remains an unanswered question IMO. 2) Will this version allow for proper rendition of cloud shadows, unlike truesky in v5? We get some clues to that in the winter scenes in what looks like Chicago.. I don't see too much sun bleeding through that cloud layer. 3) Will this new atmospheric engine finally fix the hideous permanent sunrise/sunset textures we've had to endure in v5 with EA on? 4) Will this version be compatible with DLSS 3 and Frame Generation? I would assume no on this, but will continue to hold out hope because of the potential FPS benefits. If the answer to to least 1-3 is yes, I am over the moon.

If they included a weather engine - which P3D has never had - they probably would've included that in the highlights. I seriously doubt they decided to suddenly build one in.

That down to Nvidia they include support for a game title in driver updates not the other way round. Raymond Fry.

As in, can ActiveSky plug in to this atmospheric model and provide an exact view of weather, like clear skies at your location but a giant 40,000ft supercell thunderstorm 50 miles ahead? Currently, if you use TrueSky, thats a "NO" in v5. Basically, can ActiveSky do with this atmospheric model what they currently do with the legacy 2D cloud model?
June 24, 20232 yr Well, not exactly a revolutionary update, but as long as it's an improvement over v5 then I'm in. Progress is always good. I'm happy to see better atmospherics and lighting. I hope they finally included VC rain effects. Better airport buildings and textures sound nice as well. The stock airport buildings have always left a lot to be desired. June 24, 20232 yr If all my v5 add-ons work in V6 (including PMDG, FSL, Maddog and Active Sky), it's a first-day purchase for me. You do know you can have both installed V5 and V6. If your waiting for an addon to be updated some like ORBX will know what`s needed. Raymond Fry.

June 25, 20232 yr Yep, buying it on release day along with A2A Commanche for MSFS2020. What a great time in FlightSim world. How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

If I'm spending on v6, it's because I hope to be able to fly my heavies there 🤷🏻♂️. At least I'm sure the Q400 works in v6. Anyway, I'm excited about this v6, and the fact it's just 9 days away. June 25, 20232 yr Maybe my eye is dull, but I didn't see much difference on ground and Aircraft, the could is different, but It's hard for me to see which is better.... I wonder if the new atmospheric model will also include a proper temperature altitude correction, the only piece I need in P3Dv5 now.
June 25, 20232 yr Nothing in the video on night lighting. One of the issues with P3D was watching lights load in blocks at night.
