Stan, what were you expecting? That all your v5 airports and aircraft would appear automatically in v6? Surely not. The key word is separate.

Scenery details are held in two files - scenery.cfg and add-ins.xml.

The v5 ones would need copying to the equivalent folders in v6. Note copy, not move.

Start slow with scenery.cfg. Walk before you run.

You can point v6 to your v5 installed scenery. I’ve done it with v5 pointing to v4 installed airports. No guarantee all will work. Tread gently.

And yes, from a business standpoint it makes a lot of sense for them to only support one platform. It not only drives innovation and efficiency but it keeps the revenue stream coming in which, surprise, keeps them solvent.

I can't say I'm surprised that major devs have already announced that they don't intend to support P3D V6. I already knew this was going to happen.

 

So far, I'm really disappointed in this new version.  The sim needs ORBX badly, and I'm not having a lot of fun without real weather, or the many, many great sceneries and aircraft I had available in V5.  I dread having to reload everything, but maybe I'll just try to be optimistic and do a little every day.  

My Microsoft FF2 joystick is, of course, not functioning in V6, and I'm hoping I can figure a way to get it to work.  From what I've seen of the default scenery so far, it leaves a lot to be desired.

I agree. That is why I find their actions today a bit odd. It won't cause the world to tip off it axis or anything.

Playing around with a vanilla version of V6 on my gaming PC.

Still no buildings at KFLY and minimal amount of parking spots. KCOS has the same misplaced buildings which don't line up with taxiways just as it was in V5. 😞 

I guess I'll stick with V4 on my sim PC.

Several developers keeping the real work required for an update a secret to lie to the public about it to make people follow them to MSFS? That's exactly what the word conspiracy means.

I'd rather have developers tell me now that they're not going to support V6 rather than invest in something that I can't use my favorite aircraft in.

I was asking you an honest question based on a statement you made in a previous post making the assumption that these devs are colluding behind the scenes to push the end user away from P3D despite them being very frank in the preceding months regarding their interest in keeping the platform supported.

Newsflash. Not everyone you interact with who shows a differing opinion is out to get you. Part of what makes communities on the internet such as avsim a place to convene is thoughtful and frank discussion between the member base. It's also ok to inject a little humor from time to time as a search through lots of threads here will show. It's been like that for the better part of the last 2 decades and we can only hope remains going forward.
