Trading the 3090 for the 4090 increased my frame rate in DX11 from ~30-35 fps to 45-50fps, same settings, same CPU etc. In the last 24 hours or so I've been having a change of fortune with FG. After some extensive remote monitoring with HWInfo, I increased my AVX offset (MSFS apparently runs a fairly heavy mix of AVX instructions that hits the main thread on the last core very hard) and capped frame rates in the driver to 80 fps to hold the power draw on the 4090 to around 400-410W (at 90 fps it was bumping up against the TDP limit of 450W). I'm now seeing frame rates (as reported by the monitor) pinned at 80 with very occasional drops into the mid-high 70s. So far it's stable and very smooth. I've had 5 trouble-free flights at those settings in the PMDG 737 into complex add-on airports with a heavy mix of FSTraffic-injected AI and heavy weather. It's still a little early to declare victory, but it is encouraging after nearly a week of beating my head against the wall with 100% of my attempts ending in a CTD. Bob, can you share your NVCP settings ? I am trying to come up with good settings for my Left View client. I use WidevieW. My experience with Vsync off and FG on is that it’s smooth when flying horizontally but when banking and the horizon goes up/down fast on the client it happens with small stutters. Right now I use FPS capped at 58 in NVCP and Vsync Apll controlled. Inside MSFS no Vsync and FG enabled with DLSS3. But the one display system can handle TAA too. July 6, 20232 yr 9 hours ago, David Mills said: The term DLSS unfortunately has numerous meanings these days. DLSS 1 refers to the upscaling of images from lower to higher resolution. In your settings, you selected DLSS as your mode of anti-aliasing. Quite apart from this, DLSS 3 refers to FG (or frame generation). You did indeed select frame generation several options beneath your selected mode of anti-aliasing. Please note that you do not have to use DLSS anti-aliasing (or upscaling) in order to use DLSS 3 frame generation. Try changing your anti-aliasing to TAA, but leaving your frame generation option like it is now. Your screen resolution is set to 3840 x 2160 (or 4K), so attempting to "upscaling" your already-vast 4K display may be the problem here. You have excellent hardware, so you shouldn't be suffering 20ish fps under any flight scenario. Thanks so much for responding and providing advice. I changed the setting to TAA and kept everything the same and am now experiencing high single to low double digit frames (without adding traffic). If I go back to DX11 frames do improve to the high tees/low 20s (this time with traffic) but FG turns off. Any ideas on what else I could try - you are right, I spent quite a bit of money on this PC and haven't seen any large performance gains. Appreciate your support. July 6, 20232 yr Great videos! You're actually getting far better performance than the frame counter indicates, because the in-sim frame counter doesn't tally the additional frames you're getting from Frame Generation. As I mentioned earlier I just have Vsync & Gsync on in NVCP, FG on in the sim (Definitely no in sim Vsync and no capping fps) and Nvidia low latency automatically switches on. With my 120Hz Sony TV FPS are capped automatically at 116 by having Vsync & FG on and if they drop then Gsync takes care. The result is a butter smooth experience. I do not have any lag or artifacts, maybe my Sony handles motion better when panning, they do have an amazing processor. July 8, 20232 yr The further this tread goes the more complicated things become wrt FG. I have a 9900KF cpu and a gen 9 motherboard plus a 60Hz 49 inch 4K Sony TV and a 2 year old 3080ti gpu. I am looking to upgrade my hardware but would like to spread the cost over a couple of years. As a first step I am considering replacing the gpu with a 4080ti when it is released later this year but only if FG would give me some benefit for a time while still using the rest of my current kit before upgrading the rest (except for the TV that will have to stay) probably in two years time after the next generation CPU is released. However this thread makes me wonder if there would be any point in doing this - FG seems to come with quite a lot of gotchas. Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
