Chaseplane supports P3Dv6

I am puzzled by the negative comments, I have to say.

Everybody and their granny was moaning a couple of weeks ago about v6 having no CP.

Now there is a CP, people are moaning again.

If you don't like the price then don't buy it. You always have a choice! If the dev. does not sell his product, then after a while, he might reduce the price...

But...don't come here and moan. If I was the dev. I would be well pi**ed off reading all that stuff.

Again: Probably not the same people doing the same moaning. And why not? People are entitled to their opinions. But yes, devs have to have a thick skin, that's for sure...

do appreciate the discount being offered to existing CP end users.

The discount is offered to everyone, including new users.

If this was priced at $15-$20, I don’t believe we would have heard any negative feedback.

. Not only fishy, they are b*st*rds. No thanks ...

What a great post....

Meanwhile,  the reaction of some other  grateful customers has prompted this post from another P3D dev

it's funny, one month ago, I have seen nobody complaining when a multi-billion dollar company asked you around $60 to upgrade to P3D 6.0 even when the new features were not that outsdanding compared to 5.4. And for each new version you paid for the upgrade during all those years.

Now, some of you are asking a lifetime free upgrade from a developer who has to pay for his bills and feed his family and surely has not the whealthy pockets like LM.

Maybe some of you don't seem to understand but P3D is more and more a niche market so if you want to see developer still proposing updates or new products for our sim, we will have to open our wallet. The way, some are reacting surely doesn't encourage most developer to keep an eye on the P3D market.

Oh, I think you'll find quite a lot of people complained when it became apparent that any changes in V6 were somewhat underwhelming.

Their disapponitment was voiced by saying, it should have been a V5.5 instead of V6.

Would you mind quoting the exact posts asking for a free lifetime upgrade?  Or did you conjure this up in your mind?

When I see FSLabs and PMDG products in v6 I will buy this new Chaseplane. For me it's always the same problem: support of my addons on one platform (right now it only happens in P3D 5.4).

agreed.

P3D owners need to make peace with the fact that the sim has hardly anyone using it, relatively speaking. It cost money to get the add-on to work on V6 and considering the size of the install base, they had to charge full price to recoup what they put in. Simple as that. All this complaining will probably leave them less inclined to do anything else with P3D.

also agreed.

Yes, but for that one gets "more" product, namely a whole flight simulator, I would say.

To be perfectly clear: With this I am NOT saying CP is too expensive or anything of that sort. On the opposite, I am also on the fence concerning V6. Because of hesitant support by a lot of add-on devs, compounded by few immediately obvious improvements. I don't see 2020 becoming a viable alternative FOR ME anytime soon, so I am eying the situation around V6. Time will tell.

It was pointed out here by a developer a few days ago. Of course, not everybody is asking for a lifetime free upgrade but we all know that this is a request from a large part of the users (see the complain on avsim or on every sim media). People are more prone to pay for an upgrade when they buy the same product for a different sim (and anyway, most will still request a huge discount, if not more) but inside the same sim (PD3 5.0 --> 6.0) , people are less prone to pay again. That's a fact.

The fact that P3D gets "more" products is irrelevant. The development team is way bigger so a solo developer often put as much work and sweat in his product so he also deserve to get a living from his work. In the case of chaseplane, the developer offered free upgrades & support for more than 4 years so I'm really not shocked that he request a full buy for the 6.0 version. There is also a 20% discount till the end of July.

One could argue that this mandates a higher price. But I don't think that's the way pricing works, anyway.

No, the developer actually wrote that the CP pro version would be updated for the life of P3D V6.0 - V6.999 only, so only the lifetime of P3D V6. If/when there is a version 7 of P3D you will have to have a new licence for CP.

As others have said, the camera api has not changed, all that has happened is old coding for FSX and P3D V1-5 have been removed and recompiled for compatibility for P3d V6 and then renamed Chaseplane Pro.

Having said that the Pro part is probably for the commercial market, but even they can buy it with the discount.
