August 16, 20232 yr I have flown more successful landings in the Comanche than any other aircraft in MSFS. August 16, 20232 yr Not sure what some of you guys are doing and without videos or better descriptions it will be difficult to diagnose. But in my experience landing this aircraft is a wonderful feeling compared to all other aircraft in the sim. I would say the only other aircraft which gives me similar "feeling" is the PMDG 737, that thing is a joy to land as well but not a good comparison because well its chalk and cheese. My tips for landing the comanche is respect your final approach speed, be on the (lower limit), come over the numbers at 50ft, have your aim point and flare somewhere between 2.5 to 5 degrees nose up depending on whether you want to plant it or float it, elevation of runway plays a part as well. My most controlled and smoothest landings have all come in the Comanche thus far. Thomas Derbyshire

When I first got the Comanche, I was having similar issues when landing even though the rest of the flight model felt convincing. I haven't flown in recent years, but I am a RW PPL with time on the Cessna 150 and 172, Grumman AA5 Traveller, Piper PA140 and Piper Warrior. No RW Comanche time though. I have no issues with the landing flare on other payware aircraft, but I was having difficulty with my newly purchased Comanche. In particular I find that the A2A Comanche has unusualy high elevator authority in the flare compared to both my RW and simulator experience in other GA aircraft. I mitigated this by reducing the elevator sensitivity in the tablet to the minimum and focusing on more subtle inputs on the stick during the flare to let the energy bleed off without ballooning. Most of my landings are now fine, but it did take some time getting used to the high amount of elevator sensitivity and authority during this phase of flight. I am sure that my aging controllers, CH Pro joystick and Pedals are part of the problem. CH Pro joystick, which I owned for a few years, was not a good joystick for me, I was glad to get rid of it.

I just cant seem to figure out how close it is to the ground visually. I think my problem is reverse though. I think I am coming in to slow, not to fast. Love the plane though. Will figure it out eventually Ron Try speed on short final, 80 mph, full flaps, and see what happens.
August 16, 20232 yr Hardware and fine tuning sensitivity settings is also another variable, I use the Hotas Warthog Throttle and Stick which in my opinion is a fantastic piece of precision equipment. Before that I used the Saitek plastic yoke (urgh). Thomas Derbyshire

My comfort level with the elevator pitch is low right now with roughly 30 landings. Something feels wrong in all phases of flight as I think it through. Aileron and rudder seem good. Must be that reaching above my head. 😄😄 I like my Honeycomb peripherals, but always struggle with the elevator axis. In particular in planes where you have to be precise, as in the Comanche. In fact, I fly the Comanche with my Virpil stick with wich I can make more subtle corrections on the elevator axis .... as I am using a stick in my real life microlight lessons (Ikarus C42CS). Contrary to what I said. I was coming in just over 90 and way to high and my nose is to high. Everything I was doing was wrong. That is what I love with this plane, you cant seem to cheat at all and get away with it. It will punish you for it. Ron Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

August 16, 20232 yr Well, honestly, and sadly, the more I fly the A2A Comanche the less I like it 😞 It's probably because of the external stuff being run, but in various aspects it doesn't feel harmonious to me... Yesterday I installed the latest patch and: - don't like ground physics... - don't like that wing rocking - it feels too plastic for my liking 😞 But then again the same deception regarding the last release of the Fenix A320 with it's really weird FBW quirks, pitch hysteria... I like it so much after flown it 25 hours, that I am not even interested in flying other GA single prop at the moment. - What do you not like about the ground physics? - What do you mean with wing rocking? - What is a plastic feeling? In regard to planes and flying for me this i a new comparison 🙂 MS FS 2020/2024 | 9800X3D | 64GB DDR5 6000mhz | ASUS ROG ASTRAL RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC EDITION | Varjo Aero | Navigraph | VATSIM | TPR Pedals | Virpil | Honeycomb | Winwing FCU + EFIS | Behringer X Touch Mini | SPAD.next

A good friend of mine has owned a Comanche for 8 years. He has almost 500 hours flying it. He tried the A2A Comanche last week on his son's PC, and he said he was really impressed on how realistic it was... Ah, but what does he know, he's not an Avsim expert. 😉

My problem with real pilots is that they often have little knowledge of how good FSMS has become. Also ask him what part he found realistic and what part he found not to be on par. I would really look forward to that discussion. Ron Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
