August 24, 20232 yr AUGUST 24TH, 2023 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE Posted by: Microsoft Flight Simulator Team This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Forum user DaveBGaming. If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below! Yesterday at gamescom in Cologne, we were pleased to announce a new City Update and Local Legend. Sim pilots can find both City Update 4: Western Europe (Free) and Local Legend 12: Dornier Do X available now from the in-sim Marketplace. Sadly, there are no surviving models of the Dornier Do X, so to bring this plane to Microsoft Flight Simulator in the most accurate and realistic fashion, we partnered with Freundes-und Förderkreis Do X e.V., a Germany-based group who are currently building a full-size replica of this vintage aircraft. Their goal is to complete construction by 2029 in time for the 100th anniversary of the Do X’s first flight. You can learn more about Freundes-und Förderkreis Do X e.V. in our latest Partnership Series video on YouTube here. Earlier today, we released updates to Expert Series 1: ATR 42-600 / 72-600 and Local Legend 11: Aero Vodochody Ae-45 and Ae-145. These updates are now available from Content Manager. You can read the release notes for the ATR here and for the Aero 45 here. On Tuesday, we updated the ongoing Sim Update 13 (SU_13) public test with a new beta build. Among other fixes, build 1.34.11.0 includes a new toggle option that allows players to enable or disable the white dot cursor. This toggle feature is currently available only on PC but will also be coming to Xbox in the next pre-release beta build. You can read the full release notes for 1.34.11.0 here. Last but not least, last Friday, August 18, marked the three-year anniversary of Microsoft Flight Simulator‘s release! To celebrate, we shared some player statistics from three years of your flying adventures. You can see these amazing figures in the infographic below or in video format on YouTube here. COMMUNITY FLY-IN This week, we’ll be flying in South America to celebrate the August 25 holiday of Uruguay’s Independence Day! Our flight plan will see us depart from the capital city of Montevideo, fly westbound along the Río de la Plata, then turn north to follow the Uruguay River to our final destination in Paysandú. Event details are available here. All are welcome to participate! COMMUNITY VIDEO For this weeks Community Video we join Jonathan Beckett as he gives his first look around the brand new Dornier Do X, which released in the Marketplace earlier this week. Whilst firing up the multitude of engines for a quick hop around the beautifully scenic Virgin Islands, Jonathan gives a detailed walkthrough of the interior before his first flight in the worlds largest flying boat at the time of its introduction. Even better with the improvement mod, but I don't know if they monitor that. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. I normally stay away from those mods, too much hassle/incompatibilities with each Asobo update. "but I don't know if they monitor that." I assume they would count anything that is based on the original Asobo model, no matter how modded and repainted. Its's the excellent freeware WBSim / JPLogistics Cessna 152 Mod, now at v2.06. You have to get it from their Discord server now as it was taken off FS.to during the 'dispute' a few months ago. As for the monitoring of the models, like I say, I don't know, but the amount that use the C-150 mod could be low anyway, but I just think it is better, and it was already a great aircraft from Asobo as standard. I have never had any compatibility issues with it. It's solid. Edited August 25, 20232 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). August 25, 20232 yr Why does the "Development Update" published today bear the date of July 6,2023? It is also current as of two and a half months ago. Can it be that someone at Asobo is not checking their work before it is released? Is this the extent of quality assurance we can continue to expect going forward?
August 28, 20232 yr On 8/25/2023 at 2:05 PM, TASCHMANN said: Why does the "Development Update" published today bear the date of July 6,2023? That's the date of the last time the roadmap was updated, not the date of the Development Update. If you read the bottom of the October section of the Roadmap, it says the Roadmap will be updated again at the end of that month. This isn't a new thing, this is how they've always done it, if you go back and read previous Dev Updates you'll see this. On 8/25/2023 at 2:05 PM, TASCHMANN said: Can it be that someone at Asobo is not checking their work before it is released? The Microsoft community team writes these Development updates, not Asobo. Using info provided by Asobo or their bosses at Microsoft, but Asobo doesn't write them or create the images. Edited August 28, 20232 yr by Tuskin38
August 28, 20232 yr I was not going to install this version of the patch because the first patch version degraded fps. But I installed tonight and it runs as smooth and performs as well as the non beta version. I'm not sure why because the changes to this second version patch was supposed to be rather trivial. Anyway, the release full SU may not be a performance laggard after all. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
