August 29, 20232 yr I never ever had any problem with that. Updates needs no more than 4-5 Minutes for me, unlike another sim that forces you to update and needs at least 20 Minutes. Using XP since version 6.70. i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM

August 29, 20232 yr Moderator I have X-Plane on a fast SSD drive (formatted with ExFAT so I can share it with Windows), so it's pretty quick for me, maybe 20-30 seconds for the full-scan, and updates then take around 1-2 minutes.

One thing that definitely sped up the scanning process was adding my base X-Plane folder to the exclusions list for MS Defender.
August 29, 20232 yr The Highwinds CDN was on its butt yesterday when I updated...it'd get a gulp of data at ~25Mbps, then hang and give me an error after a few minutes, then retry, get another few seconds of data, then hang again. Took more than a half an hour to do the update. No problems with any other sites at the same time.
