X-Plane 12 updates

Featured Replies

Every time there is a new update it takes me hours to be patient during the search! Extremely slow. Seems like Laminar's modem is from the late 90's.:-)

Is it only me?

Thanks

After waiting one hour, I could access the server and download the update!!! 🙂

Ye just you done in 4 minutes

I never ever had any problem with that. Updates needs no more than 4-5 Minutes for me, unlike another sim that forces you to update and needs at least 20 Minutes. Using XP since version 6.70.

The initial scan, to see which files need updating, takes quite a while.

40 to 50 seconds here.

I suspect you might be using a filesystem like NTFS from 1993, or worse, FAT from the 80s

I have X-Plane on a fast SSD drive (formatted with ExFAT so I can share it with Windows), so it's pretty quick for me, maybe 20-30 seconds for the full-scan, and updates then take around 1-2 minutes.

Like other have reported, the initial scan on my system (with X-Plane installed on a fast NVMe drive) takes around 40 seconds. One thing that definitely sped up the scanning process was adding my base X-Plane folder to the exclusions list for MS Defender.

The Highwinds CDN was on its butt yesterday when I updated...it'd get a gulp of data at ~25Mbps, then hang and give me an error after a few minutes, then retry, get another few seconds of data, then hang again.  Took more than a half an hour to do the update.  No problems with any other sites at the same time.

When a new version of XP12 meaning not a beta is released, does the home screen show that the updated version is available for download?

Interesting, I would say about five minutes here.  I have a 4tb drive just for XP12 too.  No Ortho on it as I use autoortho now.

At least five minutes for me. I'll check out MS Defender.
