September 20, 20232 yr P3D 4.5 will offer more content than it's newer predecessors. Performance is quite fine. September 20, 20232 yr P3d V5.4. Absolutely awesome and can accommodate many planes and scenery. Don't even think twice about it! If you have a lot of time, and you're into "tweaking" and are patient, and able to handle stress and anxiety in your flying experience, then get P3d v6. Stan Edited September 20, 20232 yr by spilok
September 21, 20232 yr V5.x is great, but as far as clouds and weather depiction, V6 is the best bar none.

Add to that all the great airports, ORBX, and so many planes that work perfectly in this version, and you have the perfect sim. Edited September 21, 20232 yr by spilok

I bought v6 and 6 month dev license for 5.4 to be able to run all of my aircraft addons not natively ready for v6. I believe in 6 months those will probably get it 🙂 and, even if not, I really love the lighting in v6 ! And on a flight today I believe I flew into a hailstorm with massive white hailstones flying towards me which I've never experienced before
November 16, 20232 yr Hi I am in the same boat as the OP, I have never flown P3D and struggling to decide between 5.4 and v6.
November 16, 20232 yr To me, good planes are the most important aspect of a flight simulator. I am still on V5.4 and haven't purchased V6 yet. V5.4 is stable for me and I have a full hangar of compatible aircraft. If and/or when more aircraft become compatible with V6, I'll move on then. Orman
November 17, 20232 yr For me too, the most important quality of a simulator is the flight model of its aircraft and rotorcraft. With P3D I've never been disappointed. Its latest version, P3DV5.4, is very mature, and with it I can enjoy a huge number of aircraft and rotorcraft with VFR or IFR flight qualities that I can't find on other simulators or... Xbox games. However, I'll stop at this version 5.4, as I've unfortunately learned that my great Lorby SI FireFighterX addon is definitively incompatible with P3Dv6.
November 18, 20232 yr Thanks for the replies much appreciated. I am dipping my toes back into the flightsim world after a very long hiatus. The other sims out there didn’t grab my attention. I decided on V5 for the time being and possibly V6 in the future. I am interested mainly in airliners. Any suggestions on a few addons just to get started? Thanks again!

I own the base 320x the 319 and recently purchased the 21SL. The PMDG 777 200 LR os also very nice. Last week i bought the iFly 737 MAX and am really enjoying it! Anything PMDG, Fslabs, ifly, Leonardo maddog probably won’t have any sales, but those are the best planes out there for airliners. Cheapest of those options are the ifly 737ng and 737 max. Orman
